cfl vs hps

can you tell me the ups and downs with both?

i have 2 cfl 100w bulbs that say they make 1000w of 6700k light

thinking about going hps what would be the difference how would it change things?

hps is better light to use, cfl's are cheaper. if you want to go maximum light, choose the hps. if you;re on a budget and you;re willing to compromise on light, buy cfls.

Lighting in england:

HPS is alot more dangerous to use due to police look out for heat in there Heat tracking helicoptors and every now and then do check up on electric bills to see if you have a major increase (which a couple of HPS would do), HPS makes alot of heat and uses alot of electircity so be warned

CFL are alot more easyer to use, they dont radiate as much heat as a HPS, so you can put them closer to the plant, also its harder for the police to track on bills and scanning due to the heat isnt alot

i use CFL because i find them cheaper and safer but soon i will get a couple of HPS, the buds from HPS are better in my option alot more of them. Good luck and happy growing

this is a common misperception. by definition, one 250 watt hps uses the same energy as 250 watts of cfl and the hps gives more light.

and while and hps is hotter per watt of energy, it is cooler if you look at heat per amount of light put out.

cfl's are cheap and easy to use. hps is better but expensive and takes a little more care.

i want a 150w hps for my room but cant find anything cheap ....

i found one at home depo and lows. their one 150w so i think im going to try one of those see how i like it maybe get a 250 after that

yeah go to htg supply and police aint looking for small grows with a max of 1000 watt light they want ops shit that cosume 1500+ on there electric bill .

If you have the chance to choose between cfl and hps then i would instantly go with hps.
CFL is only good for small grows that dont have the space for hps and heat issues. HPS is the better light and cops wont be looking for your grow with helicopters...

thank you people think they will caught by a helicopter using a 600 wow... like you can easily control that and i see heaters that put out more watts than that.
