So im new to the site and new to growing but ive done alot of research and am about to start a closet grow in the next week.
So far here are my plans:
A 4x2.5x1 box inside painted white
3 27w Day light CFL's for veggie
3 23w Soft white CFL's for Flowering
The lights mounted with one at top and one on each side wall
Fox farm ocean forest soil
Fox farm tiger bloom and big bloom for flowering and veggie
Im using bag seed but its of pretty good quality as per ive smoked the plants it came from and it became my new favorite which led me to this.

My problems ive ran into are this:
Where on my side walls would be the best place to mount the lights so that i can have my floor board move up and down to adjust plant proximity to the top light?

I want to only run one fan to cut down noise and drawing attention so what would be my best bet as far as a fan?

Im going going to be growing these plants from seed to bud. I was planning on either planting 2 or three seeds considering i dont know if these seeds will be female. What are the percentage of males to females in normal bag seed?

If two of them turn out to be female will i have enough room in my grow box to mature two healthy plants?

And NOW My big problem
I want the box to be entirely self contained. I want one source of power to the box and then have it rely power to my fan and lights. I want to place the lights on a timer but i want the timer to be on the inside of the box.

Pleeease help me with this ive been struggling all day with solutions that are mostly cheap and will get the job done. Im totally confident with my wiring but i just cant get this circuit figured out in my head.

All help is a appreciated and with a little luck ill hopefuly be in the family of CFL growers.

Run an extension cord to the box..inside the box put a power strip that has a timer on it (what a friend uses they sell them on amazon) that takes care of power and timer =)

home depot has small 6" fans for about 5 bucks and its battery powered so you don't need to worry about finding a place to plug it in and about mounting the lights on the side is pretty much whereever you think is a good spot. I'm also doing something similar to what your doing and i had the same issue

What about the seeds and grow area? Do you guys think i would be alright cutting my box down to 3 feet tall or should i keep it at 4 foot?

if you can keep it four foot. the bigger the better
as for seeds use some bag seed or i've been hearing good things from attitude seed bank. hope this helps
