    Default mogul base CFLs?

im confused as to which ones are self ballasted and which ones aren't. Im only interested in self ballasted. Also, any recommendations on specific models or brands? Like feit, lithonia, lights of america, etc.. also which specific wattage, i know theres 42w, 65w, and 68w, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Just trying to get my veggin seedlings under some heavy duty 6500k, and self ballasted CFLs are my only option at the moment, and i intend to switch to 2700k for flower, but will use some sort of mogul based CFL. thanks.

you will be hard pressed to find curly cue cfls that need a ballast. its generally only the strip lights that need the igniting equipment. also with regards to watts. start with 100w actual (not incandescent equivalent) for first plant and add another 50-75 per extra plant. so 3 plants = 200-250w. you will want 5000k and above for veg and 2700k for flowering. most efficient for lumens per watt are 23w-45w

well for the most part, those higher wattage mogul CFLs seem to be the 4U kind, you know, like the european style?

i use a 200w feliz 2700k, its got 10k lumens. one of my grows pulled 3oz after about 9 weeks flower. i just built a 2x3x5 box to see how much i can grow with it. im hoping for like 4 to 5 oz once i get a full grow through my old flower box with a 125w 6500k to get a bigger head start versus the~30w tote veg i was using before. the box im using to veg (the same i pulled 3oz with the 200w for flower) is the supercloset superbox its 18"w x 24"d x 36"t is now my veg box.

heres a link to my postsshowing my setup now: New Flower Box, Built it for under $200

it came with my hydrofarm hood, its flimsy as hell(the bulb to ballast is loose ish) and im not expecting it to last very long, but it was worth the money to me cuz the covered hood and 125w was 50 bucks, i couldnt beat the rice for justthe hood alone. honestly the feliz ones are like 40 bucks on amazon and way higher quality

That's not true. MOST have a ballast, but some do not.

In fact here's which is not self-ballasted: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ndingMethod=rr

I have a note from my Doctor
