Lady J's 12 / 12 From Seed Perpetual Closet CFL Grow

Just finished up my closet today and thought I would post some pics of the beginning stages of a 12 / 12 from seed, closet CFL grow

I am still a newbie to growing MJ but I do a lot of research and constantly go through RIU's forums, so I'm not exactly clueless, just inexperienced. I have a grow currently going that is in it's 2nd week of flowering. It's my first 'official' grow. A lot of cool people have been posting on that thread, giving me advice and sharing knowledge...bigfattone420 told me about The 12-12 From Seed Thread and I was blown away. I had just recently cleaned out my closet for an experimental DWC grow with Bagseed, but decided I had to try 12/12...so here I am!

Please do not post telling me how 12/12 sucks, or how I should grow in a tent, how CFLs grow small buds and etc...This is what I have to work with for now. I'm sharing what I'm doing for people who are interested in this type of growing and are trying to learn or want to offer advice on what I can do better. I don't mind if people want to point to informational threads or guides, or share the knowledge they have learned. And I would prefer that when friendly criticism is offered, it is from someone who actually has real experience .

That being said, here is what the outside of my closet looks like:




Yea, I know it's ghetto lol. I stay in an apartment so it's not optional for me to modify the closet door or put holes in the wall for ventilation. I'm also not going to buy a new door, bring it home for my neighbors watch me struggle to get in the house, and later ask me questions about it. So, I took some black trash bags and duct tape and fashioned a make-shift curtain / door, whatever. The inside was lined with double sided duct tape and Mylar. It is attached to the doorway with a lot of damn velcro! I've left it up for a few days and it hasn't fell or come undone at all so it's secure. The exhaust is a 6inch inline fan that I bought for less than 30 bucks from Amazon. I'm gong to be making a 3inch intake at the bottom and cover it with black stocking, should work as a passive intake.

Right now I have a Skunk from Ceres, and Big Bud #2 that I got free from Herbies germinating. I also have some other seeds on the way: Shining Silver Haze, Bubba Kush, Mazar Kush, Cheese, Blue Venom, Afghan x Skunk, Northern Lights x Big Bud, Lambo, Critical Jack Herer, Kandy Kush, Blue Dream Haze, and Pineapple Express.

I have tons of CFLs and will be adding them as necessary. I am not worried about the smell. It's not an issue where I'm at. Please don't tell me how cheap whatever filtration system is, I don't care. Not using it here.

I'm going to experiment with different nutes probably...right now I have Fox Farm Grow Big 6-4-4, Fox Farm Big Bloom 0.01-0.3-0.7, Neptune's Harvest Fish and Seaweed Liquid Fertilizer 2-3-1, and Liquid Karma. The seedlings will start out in Jiffy's Organic seed starter, then move to a Happy Frog soil formulated for tomatoes.

Using tap water. Not watching Ph, though I have the stuff to...just not going to concern myself with it for now.

Thinking of brewing up my own tea but haven't decided yet. Not too many places in an apt to keep bubbling bat shit.

Will be taking clones in a homemade bubble cloner!

I'm glad to be here! I really like your setup and I totally understand how difficult it can be to rig up a grow in an apt as I'm struggling with the same issues. But we work with what we've got, right?

I like your idea for putting a black stocking over the intake opening. I might do the same with mine. Also, that stone pipe is wicked!
