Being new to T5 I was going to use 6500K bulbs for veg and 3000K for flower. I keep reading and reading about all these ultra high $ bulbs. How much better are they than regular? For what these trick bulbs cost, I may as well go HPS. Are they really that good? Thanx

I believe my order came to $76 TOTAL for the 4 Red Suns. Seems a lot more that $4 savings compared to your $108 anyway.
The price is great, only problem is if you read my other posts my order was large enough that they dropped the shipping and handling at the other store. and thats why it's only $4 difference.
I called aquariumlighting.com yesterday and the red suns are out of stock but said he would check on having them drop shipped to me and email me a price.
The online order quoted $19.36 shipping.

I am running T5 lighting from veg. 2 24w HO strings and a 4 bulb 96W aquarium light with 6500K grow bulbs. Everything is working out well. I would not try to flower with these but veg is great.

I'd definitely "try" to flower with T5s . They work, and when used correctly, will keep up with HPS numbers/yields. Oh, and don't forget about the quality final product you get with T5s. Just my $0.02.

No need to get fancy with the bulbs, guys. Throw some $10 flora suns in the fixture and go from there. If you like to tinker, that's another story. For those who want quality meds: Flora Sun/Coral Wave/Red Sun/660 and call it a day.

    Hey everybody,
been a little absent the last few months because of moving states 'n sich, but now i'm ready to get down to it in y new digs...

so i've put the cart before the horse a bit by buying 4 zoomed flora suns before owning my t5 fixtures and now i've got some questions as my budget continues to dwindle:
I was all set on 2 4x4 quantum badboys but looking at fluorogrow's evergreen model with racehorse ballasts for 20 bucks cheaper per fixture...anyone have any experience with either (or, preferably, both) of these i'd love to hear your thoughts, like a pro/con--what you've noticed in your grow situation.

beyond that, im leaning to Lucius V and Psugaro's mentality on bulb lineups, i'm just having trouble nailing down (a) my veg. lineup, and (b) my bulb placement. LV says generic grow and blooms are fine (6500K and 27/3000K) but i'm curious if anyone has any notes comparing the agromax, spectralux, and quantum triphosphor (i.e. any "color temp." rated bulb that is listed, branded, or marketed as a horticultural bulb) and the standard bulbs that come with these fixtures (eg. topstar, tcp, ushio, ge, phillips)--am i conflating some groups here? in other words, is the divide between high-end and low end hort. bulbs rather than between hort specified and non-hort specified bulbs?

thanks for the input and i'll be posting a grow thread as soon as i pop some beans! they'll be super lemon haze, northernberry (psbc), and some headband seeds that came from a buddy's grow in which he accidentally stressed the already hermie prone strain resulting in extraordinarily seeded nugs

    be easy!
