I've actually heard people say that they work decently. It doesn't get rid of the smell, but it calms it down a little. I personally haven't tried it, but I've considered it before.

Myths, that's all they are!
The lights work to a small degree. They are great for bathrooms and dank smelling hallways but they will in no way abate the smell of a complete grow (or even part of one).
