I think that is considered a minimum. Reflection seems to also have a lot to do with how many watts you need. Better reflection = less wasted light. There's a guy on here that grows in 15" metal tubes and only uses 3 @ 26 watts each I think. He gets nice results too.

Hey King-

I can usually tell sex around 3 weeks from seed with our year round 12/12 light. My Super Lemon Haze is 60 days old 14" tall, my La woman is 30 days old and is 13", both flowering their ass off on outdoor 12/12. I'm excited to watch your grow as I've finally cleaned out a closet and bought some cfls for vegging and more.

What strain did you say you are growing?

unknown strain, bagseed, but lookin pretty decent considering my small setup lol

well its def a girl the lil white hairs multiplied overnight so im super-happy!! lol anyways she's about 4 1/2 weeks from seed and around 10 inches tall

I would personally try to get all those lights on top of the plant. Top lighting is so much more efficient then side lighting just because of how in nature a plant is hit by the sun. Don't get me wrong though, you are going to need more lighting on that plant for flower and adding side lighting is a good idea.

what would u say is the minimum lighting requirements for flowering? ive seen youtube videos where a guy grew and flowered w just 2 cfl 26 watters and although his yield was small, it still produced!! yield isnt that important to me as im new to this and just looking to take a plant to fruition. anything is better than nothin, and it'll be free!!!!!!!

ps; thanks for the tip plaguedog i re-arranged the lights to provide more top light. i intend to add 1 more cfl for flowering, a total of 4 . heres some new pics of my setup .
