    Question Flaws in my plan?

I have what I think is a good idea for a stealth rubbermaid growbox setup that I would like to build. My plan is based around the fact that this grow must be very stealthy thus requiring it to be buried beneath other boxes and that to make this stealthiness possible it can't require too much maintenence such as daily manual watering. I plan on doing this by setting up a timed pump mounted in my fish tank (located above box) that would, for a minute or so pump fishtank water in to the pots for my plants, by doing this I would eliminate need to open it up thus keeping it stealth. I do realise that I will have to open it up once in a while to adjust the plants distance from lights and to make sure they are doing well.

A couple things I havn't thought about are drainage (Will my plants suck up all the water or will it begin to build up), adding nutrients, what kinds of watering cycles I will need to run and how feeding my fish will affect nutrients.

If anyone has answers to those questions or other input please tell me as I hope to get this up and running soon.

damn dude, that sounds very dangerous. I appreciate your enthusiasm and creativity, but I truly suggest that you either don't grow until you have a suitable place, or go back to the drawing board. also the fishtank water idea sounds gross and unsanitary, unless you pass the water through a reverse osmosis filter first (and probably boil it too, lol).

yes you can pump water in and use a drip regulator and be fine, but what about ventilation and temp/humidity?

the plants will often drink any excess water in their dish, but unless they are really vigorous it could overwater them.

in terms of nutrients you need to do some homework, the medium effects this a lot as well. the foxfarm line is decent, but doesn't work for every plant necescarily.

and as for light cycles, that's some really basic shit. Read the whole FAQ, really get into the knowledge. I don't doubt that you'll grow some sweet nugs eventually, but I am sure that you haven't thought this out enough. good luck

    Thanks for the replies,

As far as fish water goes I read in an issue of hightimes or some other magazine that it is infact quite sanitary and provides natural nutrients so I am not too worried about that. I will have to find that and do somemore reading related to that. As for when I reffered to cycles I was talking how many times a day to water, not light cycles I have those downpact. Also Last night I was thinking it doesn't even need to be an automatic watering system, even a switch that I could flick for a minute to water them would be fine, inessence just like hand watering but remotly. When It comes to air circulation and cooling I have two fans; 1 Small on the lower side bringing in air and 1 Large on the other side in the top portion blowing out the rising hot air. I have used that setup as far as cooling goes before so I trust it.
    Thankyou ryan

ok i feel a lot less like you are gonna burn down ur house than from your first post... the exhaust sounds great...

the fish water thing i guess is cool if u've seen it done legitimatly, but i still see a few issues: nutrients from fish excrement are unfiltered, and the type and size of fish and what you feed the fishes will drastically change the poops composition. also, some chemicals that some fishtanks need, and the algea from fishtanks could fuck up ur plants. this is a good idea to try on one plant before you take the plunge.

watering sched: water soil plants when the pot gets light, usually every 2 or 3 days depending on soil and vigour of the plants. if the pots are really small or really rootbound you can 'pump' the plants aka water hella everyday, but that's tricky to master.

either way, i think you are on the right track, pardon my previous skepticism. good luck!
FTW, I'm back dammit. Time to tear shit up and play God-in-a-closet
