How many bulbs do I need to grow 10 plants 12/12 from start?

I have a closest that is about 6 ft long x 3 ft wide. I was going to try to grow 10 plants 12/12 from start. Is this to many plants? Could I fit more?

You could probably get away with 1 1000w hps, and depending on what your concerns are with elecricity and heat you could use 2 bulbs/hoods @ 400w or even 1000w, each could cover a 3'x3' area u no. that would be plenty of light
if your not veggin, id think u should be ok with about 10, might just depend on how many pots you can fit and the strain among other things. I personally wouldnt cram them in there unless ur only concerned with the main cola, but really its up to you, if you grow em in 2 liters you could cram like 20+ under a light or 2. just remember you have to water them and crap and it becomes a bitch sometimes workin around them with a lot of plants in a tight area. just my 2 cents

this is a cfl fourm..... anyways.... id say about 2 per plant atleast make sure you go with 6700k while veg and 2700k while flowering. and keep them close. like an inch or 2 away, cfl's produce very little heat through the light.

UMMM i would DEF say more than two per plant i had five on my last ONE plant and wasnt satisfied... so unless you want small Mexi buds go A LOT of CFLS or save for MH HPS cause ten plants is A shitload and need lots of light and room

you had 5 on one with 12/12 from start? i know you can never have too much light, but that's unnecessary, i grew from seed with 1 CFL 24 watt and it grew perfectly fine. when i switched to 12/12 the plant was bigger, i gave it 1 month veg THEN i had to upgrade to 5 but thats not 12/12 from start, 12/12 from start is going to keep the plant small, smaller plant requires smaller amounts of light.

If you go 12/12 from seed, I would recommend at least 1 2700k 40 watt bulb per plant. The more light the better.

yup, those 42 watters would be good. Dont mess around with 20, 23, 26 watt lights, get 30 watts and up. They'll get a bit hotter, but get a good fan to cool the lights and another to bring in cool air to the chamber. This method of growing, where the seedling is put into 12 and 12 sounded strange to me at first..... and it still does. The plant can't physically flower right away, grow them to about 6 inches or something @18 hours. Like buddy just mentioned smaller plants need less light, so it's a good idea to keep em small.

Have you started anything yet, where's photos?

Yea BUT i also put it outside wich is better than any light you can buy and i added three more for flower bro... what you talkin about you told me i needed more on my lower branches on my thread? and i put the three on there... unless you want a little yield then you can have one but G/L on bein happy with that maybe i smoke more i donno ... seems like youd have a lil bud ...... bongsmilie   peace

23-26 Watt cfl's are a lot cheaper than the 42 watt at this time. They also give slightly more lumens per watt.

You will probably want to use about 4 of these per plant, so roughly 100 watts per plant.

Depending on the strain, 12/12 from seed may turn into a hermie breeding project for you, so watch it.

Seems like most of the really good looking CFL grows on here have at least a few 42 watters in there. I guess if you have twice as many 23 watters, thats better according to lumens or whatever, but it is kinda nice not having a million chords running everywhere, that's not a big deal though.

thats completely true...i have wires going fuckin everywhere lol its kinda irratating and also a fire hazard...so ima end up making a fixture eventually. but ya the more cfls the better...i have 12(23w)daylights im using for 7 plants for veg stage and then swappin over to some soft white or warm white for flowering. but ima end up needing to get more. at some point

You can get a bathroom fixture from Lowes for about $12 and some $1.50 Y-connectors. Simply splice the wires from the fixture to a cut end off a computer monitor plug.

Or you can run a 6-socket power strip with the plug to bulb-socket convertors, then a Y connector off that.

Some Y-connectors run 60 degrees and others 90, so you can tweak those based on your space.

In either case, only one set of wires to one wall plug needed, and it's still cheaper than using 42W bulbs. :bigjoint:

some grower only use cfl's

and i use a 430watt hps

you can get a lot of 12/12 from seed info here https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/175581-12-12-seed-club-show.html

or here but some pics are gone or the link to enlarge them is broken https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/151253-12-12-seed-harvest-1-a.html

this time i am using 16 3o watt cfl's in a 2'x2'x4' foot box with 6 plants. with a 6 week veg be cause i got more time
custom built light box 2'x2'x6" with glass on the bottom and with 2 vents, 1 intake 1 exaust and 16 plug in light sockets wired together on one 14 gauge wire thats a home made fixture will pose

I am using 4 23 watt cfl's per plant and it seems to be doing the trick for now. I am also new to growing, but everything is going smooth so far.
