!st Grow Purple Power Under CFL

I got 2 Purple Powers that are about 4 days old now. I soaked them in water for 24 hours and then planted about a half inch deep and they sprouted within a day and a half.
I got 8 23w 6500k lights, I'm planning on throwing about 4-6 more in about a week or two. The temps are from 70-78 degrees depending on the weather. Right now they're in 3in pots in MG. It's the only soil I could pick up for the moment. I plan on transplanting in about 2 weeks so if anyone has any suggestions that can be found at a walmart/home depot/lowes type stores let me know. Also all feedback is welcomed!

MG organic its only a buck or two more but its all organic!!! cheap soil still sold at hd or lowes

I've heard that stuffs allright. I think I'm just going to end up mixing my own since there's absolutely no way I'm paying $100+ to get fox farm shipped to me. lol

It's weird. I noticed the little leaves were cupping a bit this morning still. I wonder if it's from lack of water or the soil?

It's day 5. I noticed the leaves were "cupping" a little so I gave it enough water to soak through to the bottom and a few hours the leaves started to settle then I noticed the cotyledons were turning yellow. Kind of freaked me out since it's so early so I'm hoping it's just part of the gene's since nothing else is turning. Planning on getting mixing my own soil when I transplant in a few weeks. Let me know of any suggestions.

6 months ago neither did I and look at me now! My buddy that gave me the clones who laughed at my setup came over tonite and hasn't been here in 3 months or so and had to pat me on the back after I showed the my new setup cuz last time he had seen the dresser right when I started it and didnt think I would get good buds out of it but I proved him wrong to where he may start doing stealth CFL grows! mwahahahahah Thanks RIU for having a spot for guys like me!

OK, First things first, whats ur pH, and if ur using MG soil, is it the kind in the yellow bag that feeds for 3 months? If so , start watering with about 7.4 pH water, that type of soil usually has a pH of about 5.1 to start. After about the 3rd watering drop it to 6.8 and ur GOLD. My grow Uses MG Soil and my plants look fucking gorgeous, Im following the book, "SeeMoreBuds's" Marijuana BUDS For Less, 'Grow 8oz. of bud for less than $100'. Their is a sticky in the CFL Sub-Forum about the book. Not only does it work but its cheap and has the possibilties to rival HID grows. Hears a pic, two on the left 18 days veg, the large indica is 31 days, the clone in lower right was from my frist grow using the same soil.

MG's pH is usually too acidic, I'd try using Scotts or any other brand (unless you wanna spend $100 on FoxFarm).

BTW, I here Lowes sale this soil called Jungle Growth, with and without Fertilizers, that shit fuckin rocks, its really dark and rich with alot good shit, i dont quite know the names but i know'em when i see'em,

I downloaded the Buds4Less book a few weeks ago and It ruled. It's sort of an un-official bible. I haven't had a chance to go out and get a pH kit yet. Got cut down to part time which is what inspired me to grow in the first place. Hopefully I might be getting a 2nd job soon so I can atleast have a little bit more $$$ to go buy the shit I need.

Dude that's awesome. I've been prettied worried about growing in MG. Except its the only thing in my area, so I'll definitely be looking for that shit when I go out.

I just got back from Lowes. Found the Jungle Growth section which all had ferts. So basically the options in my area are this
Miracle Grow
Jungle Growth
Sta-Green (The only brand without ferts)

Unless anyone knows where to get just plain old black soil, should I go with the sta green? or is it just shit soil?

Heres a pic of the kind i use. Its the same kind as in the "Buds For Less" book and costs $3.50/10qt. at the Wal-Mart in my area. No extra nutes needed. Just start adding molasses to your water during flowering and you'll get some nice buds. Blackstrap Molasses is nice, but Grandma's brand from Wal-Mart is fine. Also, API Liquid pH test kit is in the aquarium section. If you go to PetCo., they sell the pH Test Kit, pH Up, and pH down all made by API, 5 bucks for each.the test kit only ranges from 6.0-7.6 but i just make sure not to get to far in the yellow. It should last you a while.

Yep. That's the same soil I've been using. So you don't have issues with nute burn or anything? And about how much would you say is the yield?

Dude, just follow as the "Buds For Less" book tells u. The MG Soil i use feeds for 3 months, and the only other nutrients i add is a Superthrive Spray, an Epsom salt spray, and molasses. If u choose to add more ferts. make sure its only 1/8 to 1/2 strength and add it about 1-2 weeks into flowering. MG Bloom Boost or some type of high Phosphorus (P) nutrient should do fine

No nute burn. Just do as descrided in my last reply. I flower with (top) 8 - 42 watt 2700k and (sides)4 - 23 watt 2700k. i have not had a plant grown from seed yield under 1.5 ounces DRY. The key is to
1:Keep light 3 in. or less from foliage and buds
2: Make sure plant recieve light on most if not all sides
3: CFL's have a usuable light range of about 24 inches. grow your plants taller than that and your buds will be fluffy and light instead of relativly heavy and dense as with a short plant. Like i said, i only veg for 16-21 days.

I think I'll give that a try since it's my first go at it. right now I've got 8 23w in a 1 sq ft area planning on adding 4 to 6 more. shit loads of mylar but my rig atleast lets me drop and raise the cfls that will be hanging by the side of the plants so I should be covered there. appreciate the advice!

Im doing my first grow, just used some seeds that was layin around so i have no idea on the strain, but my seedlings look just like yours with the purple main stem.. is that trait for certain strains or is that normal? Mines like Really purple lol, other than that seem to be really healthy maybe growing a little on the slow side but I didnt have a proper grow setup before.

My boy gave me these seeds from a bag of Purple Power so it may be a dominant "purple" strain But to be honest I really don't know. Hopefully it equals Chronic-goodness though. Mine have been bugging me since I've started to see a touch of lime green/yellow in the very middle of the plant. Hope it's not anything serious but I went out and got some fafard 4p soil for when I transplant. It seem like what would be hand mixed with no ferts so I figured I'd give it a go. Anyone ever heard of it before? let me know.
