Hi everyone I'm new to this site. I live I'm Edmonton Alberta. I just came back from a doctors appointment brought the proper forms my passport size photos and a waiver that I signed so there would be no legal trouble for the doctor. I brought it up he crossed his arms listened atleast but did not support it I told him I respect his decision - cause I'm not going to debate him in his own office- thing is I didn't even get to take my papers out of my folder.( just brought the proper forms just for the doctor just in case didn't bring in every single form. The forms are for B2 for depression ,anxiety, I also have scoliosis ( I was so nervous ) he's a good doctor was friendly and listened but that was it didn't even ask questions said I was too young ... I'm 27... He said i could get a second opinion and said if i wanted anti depressents he would prescribe right then and there i told him i tryed some before from another doctor but did not like the side effects so I thanked him for seeing me I was really polite and that was that. So my question is does anyone know of any doctors that will sign for me I have everything nessacery.

Wife's a med card holder.. took her doctor 3 years to sign off on it after trying every other form of medication to get her to be able to eat.
I suffer from anxiety as well, I know how hard it was to talk to her doctors - we even had one specialist tell us out right to just grow our own and if we got caught he'd write a note to the courts and it would be fine.. said he'd done it a few times before...(off the record of course) but wouldn't sign off on her paperwork. I think there's alot of doctors worried about it coming back to haunt them so they don't want to put their name down on it.

I see this is a pretty informed thread... just want to jack it for a second...

Just got her package today and found out the meds aren't covered under OHIP, and ODSP said they don't cover anything MJ related... We are on disability support, and I am her permanant caregiver. I can't go get a part time job on top of everything else in my day so is going to be very hard to afford to get her meds.... I mean we'll find the money, but we'll be giving up almost 1/3 of the total amount for her medication.. is there any programs or subsidies that we can apply for for cancer patient/survivors? PM's are cool too, I just need to know where to start looking.. thanks

Depending on her limit, I'd suggest starting here Anyone with a license of 10 grams per day or higher need a designated grower?

No regular grower is going to be able to pay for that, not if it ranges into the 100's of thousands of dollars..
How do you know this? I have searched and searched for this info and I cant find anything regarding what these licenses would cost. They only state criteria that would need to be meet.

The cost of the license is 3rd party information, from the meeting HC had with a few patients, current designated growers, law officials, and government officials that chose to partake, or were invited to partake. This happened a while ago. This 3rd party information came to me directly from one of the Designated Growers that attended this meeting. Nothing from that meeting was really disclosed publicly except the reform of the system, which would explain why you are having a hard time finding said information. I'm sure there are ways to verify this but that would likely involve contacting HC directly, and even then, I'm not sure anyone would be able to officially assist you in the matter.

This isn't saying that I'm right or wrong on this matter, it's simply saying that the info is 3rd party, and given the cost's and restrictions to alcohol and tobacco licenses, I can certainly see the cost's ranging in the 10's to 100's of thousands, and is why I wasn't shocked at all to hear if from this Designated Grower.

I'd assume the reason I got an answer of "10's-100's of thousands of dollars" is likely because the subject wan't finalized, more or less just brushed over, to get a sense of the scope of such matters. I'm sure their main topic of discussion was the reform of the system in terms of functionality, and not so much in terms of the cost's of the individual license. Topics they would have likely discussed in great detail would be more like Security requirements, Cleanliness measures, methods of distribution, and how one would obtain said medicine (ie. keeping doctors as gatekeepers), things like this, I'm sure they'll consider the licensing cost's in greater detail once they finalize the list of people they feel should qualify, ie upper class, corporate entities, middle or lower class.

You have to consider, even in the medical realm alone of cannabis ranges in the millions annually, I highly doubt their going to give the common person the means to have a piece of that pie.

Though I dont agree with lying and deception to get a card, I do believe that we ALL have medical issues of one type or another that cannabis DOES help. It is the system that forces people to lie.

We all have it in our heads that cannabis is taboo, its been pounded in to our heads since birth so our perceprion is skewed.

Nobody wants to lie about their medical condition, alot do because the issues they personally have do not fit the parimeters of the system, with the illegal stigma with cannabis makes people think they have no other choice.

This bullshit of having a license is just that BULLSHIT.

EVERYONE should be allowed access to a medical herb that has a proven track record.

We have almost 30,000 members now in Canada, our issues are not any worse or better then the person that has an issue that is not covered. Lying may be the only alternative for some, it sucks, but true.

In my opinion everyone in our country is lacking cannabinoids in their daily intake of suppliment, why else would we have cannabinoid receptors on and in every organs of our bodies? Is this part of the reason that we have cancer,Lupis, or maybe a slow metablism? Who knows but its kinda funny we have a society of sick people that have not been allowed access to cannabis for almost a hundred years now? What are these receptors for? Think about it!

Do what ever it takes, but honestly even a headache should be covered s don't think you have to lie. Your LIFE may be in the balance

There's more money in TREATING the ailgment over and over again then CURING one.

Now who is the ones lying...Really.

I totally agree Sir.G, but given the current program, and the fact that it DOES allow those is REAL pain and agony (by real I mean the pain is consistent, it never dulls) the ability to relieve themselves from it, I don't think those that are not in a real immediate need for it should be lying, destroying the integrity of the entire current medical community, just so they can legally possess and use. I think they should man up, and fight the system the same way we medical users have for so long now. If they have an ailment that is treatable with cannabis that is not currently on the list of accepted conditions, they should take the appropriate steps to retain a lawyer, and fight the system when they need to.

Lying is just unacceptable under any circumstance, and by doing so, I personally feel one is no better than the very people in political and corporate power. I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting tired of getting lied to from almost every angle of life.
