DJ short has a nifty BD knock off called auzer haze.. jus throwin that out there cuz well buying clones is.. hm well leme put it like this "can i get a BD clone" reply- "why yes would you like spider mites and mold with that?"
so fuckin true, never gotten a clone without some sort of problem...mites/pm/gnats are what ive brought home into my grow room thanks to clones from dispensaries....just sucks if you want the cali genetics you need to find clones, but growing from seed is 1000x better. im in total control of my grow room and what i bring inside of it

Here is an article from the July 2011 edition of the newsletter put out by El Camino Wellness Center.

Please forgive the terrible formatting; I copied it from a pdf file, and I'm on my way out the door to go to work and don't have time to fix it right now.

Ahhh Blue Dream! It is
just so pleasant. The
flavor, the aroma, the
fog, and the fresh, all
characteristics of this strain are
best described as Blue Dream.
It is in a sense that it must be
experienced to truly be
appreciated. Although it may
sometimes be described as
overrated in the cannabis
community, the true
connoisseur community knows
that Blue Dream can certainly
be underrated.
! There are several
different varieties available, but
the original Blue Dream is
c o m p r i s e d o f D J s h o r t ʼ s
Blueberry and Santa Cruz
Haze. The Haze that was
used in this creation is likely
one of the most original and
pure Haze plants ever created.
The clone-only true Blue
Dream is one of the tastiest
strains ever created. When
this bud is smoked in a room
and left alone for hours, upon
returning later the room will still
smell specifically like Blue
Dream. This is one of the only
strains to leave such an ever-lasting impression. Aside from
the incredible taste, the
uniquely amazing high that is
experienced is so profoundly
pleasant it can be incorporated
into any part of the day. Blue
Dream usually develops well
o v e r 1 9 % T H C a n d i s
c o n s i d e r e d a p p r o x i m a t e l y
80/20 Sativa dominant ratio
with just enough Indica to
create the perfect
balance to escape
reality while
s i m u l t a n e o u s l y
participating actively.
! Blue Dream can
be combined well with
the morning coffee, or
as a great desert for
breakfast. It can be
used to accent the day
and increase overall
mood at anytime. An
incredible medicine for
anxiety because this
Sativa dominant
cannabis will not increase
heart rate or induce panic in
any way. It simply elevates the
mind and lightens the mood.
! There is one downside to
Blue Dream that has led to the
creation of various other
strains of the same name.
This one little problem is that
this plant does not like to be
cloned. Even many of the
most masterful cloners get very
low success rates with their BD
clones. This is probably due to
the overall pickiness of Haze
genetics. The most notable
replication is the Bay areaʼ s
version that is the same
Blueberry crossed with Super
Silver Haze. It should
distinguished that the Bay area
version of Super Silver Haze is
not the best manifestation of
SSH genetics but it is a pretty
good cut that roots very well.
Thus, the Bay areaʼ s Blue
Dream also roots well and
produces very well too, but this
plant just does not carry the
same flavor or effect and is
only similar in comparison to
the original. However it is still
a very good strain and still
worthy of the name Blue
Dream. There is also another
replication from the Emerald
Triangle called Blue Dreamer
that is the same cross except
using a much better old-school
cut of the Super Silver Haze.
This is also a very good
replication that is only slightly
different and yet only slightly
similar. Several different seed
companies have developed
their answer to Blue Dream,
noted is DJ Short ʼ s Azure
Haze, which is also DJ Shortʼ s
Blueberry X Super Silver Haze.

Isn't true blue dream clone-only and therefor shouldn't have any genetic variation regardless of where you pick up the clones?
There are certainly at least 2 different phenos of BD, which was surprising since it is clone-only & therefore they should all be the same. So the OP has the right idea by picking up several different BD cuts from different sources & find the best one.

The article above from the El Camino Wellness Newsletter describes the "original" BD we've been seeking for some time. The most recent candidate from the vendor SCM (Santa Cruz Mountain) at HHC looks promising with thin-fingered leaves and a thin stalk in early veg, but we'll reserve judgement until the flowering time goes 70+ days. :D

Best,

bopper

P.S. Any pointers to a reliable BD clone would be welcome. We've been looking for awhile.

Well, that and i think the article above by El Camino Wellness Center, explains why the different bluedreams. I mean night and day. Haze bro's one(santa cruz) IS great shit, which was the one i had. Just needs a rename. Lol

Woah! Necro thread!

As for growing BD... people still like it, it is a very heavy yielder and is easy to grow. Why wouldn't you have it in your garden? Unless you lack the space of course.

P.S. I have the legit cut. :D

Not all of us are online continuously. When a site search shows an existing thread with pertinent info, why start a new thread, only to repeat the same information? Any pointers to a source of the "original" BD would still be most welcome. We're a bit isolated and never managed to find a BD worth keeping at the clubs.

The best kinds of canna never go out of style and we have never tried the better type of BD, so we'll let you know if it works for us, when and if. :)

BTW The BB Key Lime Pie GSC was a pleasant surprise and definitely, IMO, worth growing.

Best,

dhn blue dream is the original santa cruz cut, the best imo....but obviously it should go without saying if you are getting clones from ANYWHERE but DEFINITELY DISPENSARIES make sure you take the proper precautions and sanitize your cuts as best you can

Thanks for the recommendation. We took an early impression that dhn, as the source for many of the Blue Sky/SR71 clones, purveyed bland stuff. All of their early offerings were grown from seed, if memory serves, and clone-only types weren't available. It is nice to hear of improved availability.

We treat all clones with neem before planting and employ spinosad or neem as needed, so non-beneficial bugs and fungus don't get very far. Having been at it for a decade or three, we're always ready to learn and invite recommendations.

Best,

bopper
