how to get rid of fungus gnats?!?!?!?!

these things are seriously getn on my nerves, startd asjus flyin around being annoying, which was not a big deal, but now i have yellow spots on my leaves. how do you get rid of these lil demons??? i bought some ortho crap n i havent seen any flying around lately, but i still notice them in my soil!! please help my babies!!!!!!

Gonats and/or Gnatrol. Also, control moisture in your soil, you could add a hot shot pest strip to your room....layer of sand or similar on top of soil works too

If you are keeping your soil moist you need to let it dry it out completely before watering &

1st get some yellow fly tape, you can buy that stuff any where plants are - nurseries, home depot & put it around the crowns of your containers & close to the plants without sicking to them

2nd get something to kill the larvae in the soil, I got something at the local hydro store and use it on just the top 2 inches & flip / loosen the top soil everyday until it dry's out and the will get rid of them

I had a little bout with them but kicked their ass in a few days

molasses is a mild fungicide that will kill their food source. that and sticky traps will get em. 1 tsp/gal. but remember they can be a precursor to pm , dampning, and bud mold.

Ladybugs help with gnats at all??? I'm gettin some tomorrow. Tired of using that insect. soap.

Reefa - Neem oil is the standard treatment for killing spider mites and fungus gnats. Just killing only the adult creatures won't do it, you have to go after the larvae and eggs as well otherwise they'll just come back. Neem and a bacteria called Bt destroy fungus gnat larvae and eggs. Use a neem oil spray on your entire plant's foliage, spray every square inch until its dripping. The oil can clog stomata and inhibit plant's breathing for awhile so 24-48 hours after you spray I'd re-spray with plain water on the underside of all the leaves.

You could water with neem oil and hope for the best or purchase a pesticide containing Bt or Neem. (Neem is a plant that grows in india, just so you know what you're looking for on the label).

Remember that complete genocide might take more than one treatment. Kill all those little bastards dude. Kill em all.
