I noticed a couple gnats in my flower room. I have a little algae around the drain hole in my tray, how bad is that. Should i get some predator bugs?

I've never tried this myself, I also had mites & white flies on top of gnats so I sprayed Mite X and released 3,000 lady bugs.

But when searching for info I was told that if you put a 1 to 2 inch layer of sand over the soil it will kill off the fungus gnats.

The larvae which is in the soil wont be able to fly away when they become adult, and they'll starve. And the adults flying around wont be able to get to the dirt to lay eggs.

I don't know what to tell you about the algae except that you probably want to get rid of it. I would ask around before using an algicide like the ones that A/C techs use.

I haven't seen any since I introduced the lady bugs, and for the first few days I noticed they were digging. I assume they were going after the larvae but can't be sure.

It's still a good idea to spray with Mite X or something else organic the night before you release the lady bugs.

I doubt if it came from the FFOF unless the bag was ripped, it was sitting outside, and it was moist. It's not impossible, but unlikely if you checked the bags before you bought it.

Intake holes? If you mean your air intake, just put a stocking over it. Mite/Thrip screens are better, but hard to find & expensive. Stockings will work in a pinch though.

I've been putting hotshot pest strips in my growroom this season and they've worked great. I've had fungus gnats on almost every grow forever. Not to mention a bad thrip problem this last spring. I started using the pest strips and haven't seen a single pest in months. They are about 6 bucks and last for 3 or 4 months.

Ive had to pick fungus gnats, or something similar of some outdoor for hours with tweesers cus it was next to a compost pile! And I got em bad now on my first indoor. I worry about using those pest strips on something thats gonna be smoked, sounds like a strong chemical. I tried watering with some old spinosad, didnt seem to help. Picked up some BT, its been half a week and Ive only got a few adults around. Am I supposed to get the Isrealis sp? The mosquito dunks? I didnt.

But my plants vegging took a beating. Theyre not growing and eagle clawing, lower leaves dying. Think they got overwatered, overfertilized and stressed from sexing very young and switching back to veg. Ive been trying to dry em out, and watered with some peroxide for 02.

No, No pest strips look like a white plastic hanging box that emits a subtle odor but no visible chemicals.

I would recommend against putting no pest strips in the grow-room. The product in question here releases a steady dose of Dichlorvos, a long-lasting carcinogen linked to nervous system disorders, especially in children.
