Here's how to use it to wipe out a population: use a teaspoon per gallon (if it's 1.47% imid like most are) with or without nutes, three times in a row, three days apart (coincides with life cycles). For spider mites I would do four doses. Water just like normal, slowly until you see a bit of runoff
Sounds like something I've been looking for! I have all humblot clones in 4-5 week of flowering and those little shit-heads came back after 2 floramite showers.. I hate those pricks!! I picked up avid but too scared to smoke shit treated with that stuff.. Im so happy I came across all the health problems that stuff can cause before I ruined my crop.
Anyways yeah What is "imid"? anymore info? link? I couldn't find jack!

I have been having an ongoing battle with various pest in my indoor garden, such as root aphids, gnats, and an assortment of other things I don’t care to identify.

This is what I do when I go into combat with these creatures of mass destruction.

First is the heavy artillery for the eradication of all insects.

If you have a heavy constant infestation purchase a Hot Shot No-pest Strip and hang it in your room it will last you 3 months… But I would take it out during flush.

Hot Shot No-pest Strip

To start the removal process of your insects use X-clude1600 pyrethrum time release spray. This stuff is strong and has a very poisony odor to it so use it in tiny bursts.

X-clude1600

Once you have knocked down the numbers to the refugees you will want to use Safer Insect killing soap. This stuff is potassium salts of fatty acids and is great for killing bugs without poison. Spray it on everything from soil to rockwool but don’t saturate it.

Use this every 2 days for a week or so.

Safer Insect killing soap

Second is prevention of them coming back and at all.

I run multiple systems from soil to aeroponics to hydroponics so this was kinda a hassle to find something I could use in each to keep bugs away and didn’t have a strong odor.

For aeroponics and hydroponic systems I use Nutrilife SM-90 at 2ml per gallon from start to flush.

SM-90

For Soil I use Mosquito Dunks. These I use at 1 dunk crushed in panty-hose per 5 gallon bucket left in water overnight. This not only will keep bugs from coming around but will kill them. Also you can use this to eradicate root aphids in Soil and Hydroponics.

Mosquito Dunks

But with mosquito dunks if you have a weak strain (hermie flowers) this will bring it out with a lot of use. I use this every couple of waterings.

And finally I use a lighter Insecticidal soap from ortho I get from walmart once my bugs are under control to keep them away. I apply once a week to the tops of grow mediums.

Ortho Insecticidal soap

Also I have used GoGnats insect soap with cedar oil. This stuff is Ok. I don’t personally like it because I used it at half strength on the bottle and it wilted my plants at first but they came back, also it has a strong pine-sol odor to it. But it did do a good job of eradication root aphids in my hydroponic system.

GoGnats

So finally once you have got rid of your bugs, use Mosquito Dunks or SM-90 depending on what type of system you are using to keep the under soil bugs from coming around. Along with Insecticidal soap to kill top living insects and you should see no bugs no matter how bad it was before in a very short time with limited use of harsh, stinky chemicals.

I use all these products with the House & Garden Aqua Flakes nutrient and additive line. Feel free to ask any questions!
i use "pro zap pest strips" now its stronger than the hot shot! check it out! great thread im a subscriber

Dude, I have found that Doktor Doom Foggers work best for everything except White Flies. I use Yellow Paper Traps for those and spray Neem Oil on the soil. Hope that helps in some way. Also go read about making tobacco tea and foliar spraying that to control bugs. Tobacco insecticides are still used today by commercial growers because it is cheap, organic and does the job!

Peace-out~

what are these root aphids/mites or whatever you guys mentioned earlier, and how do you know if you have them?

I have rockwool and a drain to waste system. Soon going to a nft, and aeroponic sprayers... will that eleminate the threat of them attacking, or increase my vounrability?

I think Avid is a stronger imadacloprid containing systemic insecticide, isn't it? I looked into the research that says it's dangerous, the ones that cause the government to regulate it's use. They had to feed 10,000 milligrams of imid directly to dogs for years before some of them developed thyroid problems. Shit, there's a million things all around us that would do that if we ate 10 k milligrams of it a day.

More importantly, myself and others have smoked and eaten imid treated plants, sometimes dosing as late as two weeks before harvest. Tobacco and Veggie growers all over America and elsewhere do that too. I've spoken with two growers who have used it for nearly a decade because their area (Nor Cal, where my infested clones came from) is so prone to root aphids - it's theorized because of how the grape growers get rid of them - that they just treat every clone they ever cut.

I treated three consecutive times, three days apart each, at 1 teaspoon per gallon, to counter their life cycle. I had thought there must be a few there, but after tearing apart the root balls after harvest, I've found none. I also planted two Blackberry clones after treating the other stuff and they seem aphid free. I managed to pull almost 6 ounces of great pot off 4 plants under a 400 watt hps and havn't seen any more root aphids in anything in the house or in the garden outside.

aphids or root aphids? Cause if it's JUST the flyers then start with something more mild if it's not too bad. Something organic. If it's root aphids don't fuck around and waste time. Go buy some Green Light Tree and Shrub or Bayer Tree and Shrub. The latter is at my Home Depot. And the former is sometimes at hydro stores (overpriced) or at nursureys or at farm supply stores.

I don't fuckin know...Google that shit!! lol no - but I don't think it matters hydro or soil from what I've read. Only ever heard from one guy who had an aero system and he said he had quick success with imid (some havn't). I'm a noob who's never done hydro tho.

If you have root aphids you will see a lot of tiny things in your run off water in a drain to waste system, if they look like bugs then you have a problem... a lot of people think rockwool comes with bug eggs, so when i soak my rockwool i use a mosquito dunk in the water so if something does hatch it dies.

and you still can get root aphids and mites in any type of system if your grow area is not kept clean, and even if it is clean you still have a chance to get something if it is prominent in your area.

Just follow the guide for any type of bug, and products like sm-90 have other benifits like making water "wetter"

Wow....

Lots of poison in the weed. Notice i said IN the weed. You really don't have to use systemic insecticides on your plants to get rid of fungus gnats and root aphids. It's WAY easier, and cheaper, but totally unnecessary.

The following will work on hydroponic indoor grows.

Spidermites: Get some Florimite sc and dip all of your incoming clones in it. It will give you 21 days of solid protection. Re-apply it at 14 days (dip if possible). Forimite is legal to use on greenhouse tomatoes. If you are in flower and notice mites then use azatrol, sm 90(less harmful than dish soap), exclude 1600, or neem oil. If you are in late flower then be careful you can damage your crop with odd tastes.

If you have root aphid or fungus gnats try gnatroll, and azatrol. The cost of azatrol is prohibitive but it will eradicate root aphid.

I wouldn't smoke anything flowered with Imidacloprid (bayer tree and shrub/merit), no pest strips, or avid. Good luck.
Skoobie
