Default Unusual question about the labels "indica/sativa"

Okay, so this is odd... I'm starting to wonder, is the label given by a breeder to a given plant "indica or sativa" based on it's actual historic family tree of genetics, or based on the traits the sepcific strain expresses?

I ask this because I'm growing Jackberry by Sannies, and it comes in a "pure indica 3-pack" which makes no sense to me, because jackberry is blueberry (100% indica) crossed with Sannies Jack, which is listed as "mostly sativa"...

So how can a plant--one that has one parent that is "mostly sativa" and the other 100% indica--how can such a plant be described accurately as an indica strain? It seems like it would be considered a hybrid...

its supposed to be based on genetics and family history, some breeder label them by thier traits expressed which may still be proper because it is believed that the sativa is just an evolution of indica so there may be no real difference other than adaptations over time.

and from what i see theres a ton of sativa in its history. so i would say its a hybrid a 50/50 hybrid at that, genetically but maybe not expressed

welll once..... depends on who you ask! but most would agree, it all started with the indicas in the Afghanistan region and that sativa spread afterwards, some though, claim its started from sativas in the india china region.

generally it's based on the parents. IDK why sannie would put that in the indica mix when it is clearly a hybrid. I guess it's because the flowering time is around the same as most indicas. BB is 80% indica BTW.

yeah lineage wise but ive seen many blueberry crosses and a lot come out very sativa like. not to mention you can see sativa influence (even though its mostly indica) from the way blueberry grows, very stick like and tons of branching.
