a 400 watter ruins about the same juice as a computer from what i have been told

no need to worry man that's nothing, the amount of heat produced by that is nothing that would ever justify a search, reptile cages and electronics in millions of houses give off just as much or more heat so i cant see it ever being the reason you get busted

Not something you should be worried about *wattage or heat*. As for other electronics that produce that much heat besides bulbs of any kind, i cant think of any... maybe a dish washer or a really old tv?!? An OEM desktop PC usually comes with no less than a 300w power supply but most come with a 400w+, for instance my liquid gamer is running a 1000w power supply and if anyone has a computer reaching the same temp as their 400w mh or hps bulb you got a cooling problem!

To directly answer your question, a 400w bulb will not produce enough heat to make it noticeable via infrared. at least not a fly-over. The insulation in your house *depending on your geographical location* will probably appear warmer than your light and wont even show a difference from 1 end to the other. As mentioned their are far more power hungry devices in your home than your light, so when the power company comes to read your meter they wont blink an eye over wattage consumed.

Hey what about in the attic venting thru a small chimney vent, as i really needs to get it out of my bedroom but the only other suitable place would be my attic. But am paranoid because of the police choppers that are around every weekend.
