I"ve always known to root a cone all you need is water. This simple technique is often forgotten about because of all the hype of using rooting powders and gels to achieve a quicker root it is not necessary take a styrofoam cup to block light and to help insulate(rooted clones in 60 degree temps with only a 4 ft flourescent, a cup and using plain water changed every 34-48 hrs, chlorine water okay)just add water, drop clone, add a dome of some sort or a plastic baggie. Another plus is you can clone many clones in only one cup. You could also add an airstone but this is not necessary. Most times I only mist 1 or 2 times a day for a few days and forget about the dome while rooting, Currently I use rockwool cubes no plastic and just insert cut clones directly into these after they have been soaked for 24 hrs and just keep a little standing water in bottom of tray and in a week or so roots are seen. As long as temps are in the 70's no heat mat is used under 60 then i ad a heat mat. I will soon try the Rapid rooters as i believe Subs method is organic and the best choice for rooting clones . I also start seeds directly in soil but that is a diff subject. Anyway just had some spare time and just wanted to remind people u dont have to use rooting gels or powders but if u do always put in a seperate container because u dont want to contaminate your gel from dipping multiple clones. Peace

i just tried this, the only difference is your roots will only come out of the nodes cut off or the place of cutting.
rooting hormones eat throught the outer layers of the stem and also force the roots to come directly out of the stem.

the kandy kush clones had roots coming out within 8 or 9 days which is actually quicker than lots of the cuts i use hormones on.
they were very big very nice cuts though. so it would not be a fair comparison.

Had a friend get a leaf to shoot roots this summer. He was trimming the fan leafs on a clone and a leaf fell in the water he never pulled it out and bam it rooted.
