I decided my grow box was going to be made of plywood and white paint. Tonight I will begin building.

I orginally bought Miracle Grow Organic soil. I had repotted my tomato plant into it and had a bag set aside for when my Northern Lights seeds arrive. During lurking RUI I realized I CANT USE Miracle Grow for the first two weeks of the plant's life. Something about too many nutrients in the soil killing the leaves. (Nute burn) So I looked for something I could use until after the first two weeks.

I was on a Organic Gardening website and found a really handy soil recipe.

Seedling mix
2 parts compost
2 part peat moss or coir
1 part perlite

Just thought I would share that =)

I was in Home Depot today buying a Humidity/Temp Moniter ($9 Acu-rite) and looking for my soil recipe ingredients. I found a bag of Pro-Mix (cha-ching!) which I had heard mentioned on RUI as a really good blend. It was 13 dollars but it expands up to 4 cubic feet so it was actually a good deal.

I also bought a bag of local compost manure for 2 dollars. I will mix the two together when it is time to plant my seed and transfer my lavender seedlings.
