My Journey with Northern Lights

For the past three weeks I have been lurking on RIU soaking up as much information as I can. I have learned about PH values, soil composition, nutes and lighting.

I've been planning my grow box, and could not for the life of me see any way of getting adjustable height CFL lights easy. I'm sketching out complex and unlikely solutions for my problem. Dangling the cords, finding a bracket to attach to the unit, and other nonsense. I'm taking measurements of my closet and thinking I'll need to make a completely wooden box to have enough wall mounts...

Then I walk into the room to take measurements again and see the wire shelves I pulled out of there 3 weeks ago. The clips for the wire shelfs are perfect!

I can make PapaBears Polywood cabin (or close to it) and just have these clips every 1 1/2- 2 inches on the vertical supports! Take a wire shelf measured and cut (or box made to fit an existing shelf) and then secure lights to it. Then when my plants get within a half inch of my lights I can just move up to the next clip and still be within the appropriate distance.

Even if I dont have enough clips I can buy them at the Depot for like 5 bucks! I have about 10 currently, my dumbass threw away the clips in the bedroom closet. I held onto them for a month and couldnt find a use for them.. Got sick of looking at them and threw em away.

I'm going to go with a few Y connectors, outlet to socket plugs, and six 23 watt CFL bulbs. Four CFL Daylight and two Soft White for the Veg state, and then switch to four Soft White and two Daylight for the Flowering Period.

As for odor control I am going with a combination of Gonzo bags, fabric sheets, and activated carbon sheets in a venting tube. Gonzo got rid of the cigarette smell in my bathroom and I can't even smell the litter box until I start accidently breaking the kitty lumps while scoops. My roommate's shit is the funk of legend, and these bags cut the wait time on the bathroom from 1 hour to 20 min. Will be interesting to see what a bag in the grow box and outside it will do.
