5 of my Apollo LED arrays went out today, very lil info out there on repairing them or even acquiring replacement parts. They work great and are worth the trouble I spose. Cidly puts a 3 yr warranty on them so shouldn't be to much outta my pocket. just a damn incontrovertibly time to make more work for me. Read a couple blogs I feel confident enought to open it up and at least make sure a wire didn't come loose lol.

Okay I got all honeybadger and took off the facing and bam they are surprisingly simple I had a couple loose contacts which was repaired by a good ol stoner. makes me really happy cuz ordering replacement parts would have been a pain since they are sololy sold outta India. I imagine Cidly woulda helped too if I whined enough. Info on these is few and far beetween.

Yeah they seem to be a well kept secret for some reason. Probably has something to do with marketing.

OK lets shine some light! at this point I am sorta bummed I blew buncha money on em and started to plan my revenge. then cooler heads prevailed and I put on my thinking cap I started trolling the net looking for info on replacement parts or ffs even an owners manual. Eventually I escalated myself into such a fervor I actually contacted the manufactuer, /gasp.

ok labeled couple important peices for ya. up too this point just keep track f your screws and you'll be fine the aluminium cover on the light face set aside this is what you will see. two aluminium heat sinks with a thin insulation film under the LED chip then optical lenses which are just sitting on top of the bulbs so be careful they will spill off when u remove the top from the light module.

K now to figger this shit out, there is a few key things you can do. If the 1 watt led on the outside casing is on then led Driver (ie sorta like a ballast) is in functioning order then that component is not our problem so its either wire connection soldering breaks or LED chip just ate shit. To narrow my options of fail I take a live wire powering a functioning led module and unplug it and use it to test each dark led module if they stay dark its most likely a manufacturing fail, which ya gotta expect this particular technology has only been in production fer 5yrs. I would switch up using a working led chip on the Drivers i thought might be malfunctioning, in my case it powered the LED light so my problem exists in faulty 3w*15beam LED chips. Connection problems can be noticed by flickering lights and the manufacturer suggested just removing the plastic connector and hardwiring the connects together. In the end I was still under the 3yr warranty and so my new chips will be here shortly

I contacted the manufactuer they worked with me to replace the components as swiftly as possible. I asked the ship me new parts and offered to return the broken ones as I replaced them myself. took a couple of weeks but Blammo we are back on track! Was an easy fix not gonna smoke so much wax before I have to do something like this again lol. Light rails will be here at begininng of next month then the real fun begins!. Lil side note these guys upheld thier warranty but the lil devils tried to ask if I would share shipping (its included in warranty). Just a heads up if they can, they will.

I also found out why the info is sparce on these. they are literally made in one factory in china, not all the components mind you but some very important ones. Example the 15 light aluminum intergrated heatsink is made on site and like most intergrated circuitry takes all sorts of probably controlled chemicals to produce. The frame to hold the lenses is unique as well. the driver is an odd wattage and hard to find third party but not impossible. the leds are run of the mill 3w led purchaseable at several places. The apollo series 15beam heatsink IC <intergrated circuit> is the tuff part to git, my next venture is to see if they would just let me buy those so I can just put together different light combos together for whatever I am gonna use these for. I will admit these are easy to work on and great for the diy stoner.

Got my newest light for my veg room today I had changed the spectrum for a deeper blue and lil more intense UV, Because I wouldn't budge on those aspects I had to run it at with lil more electricity then I wanted. The Light delivered was very well put together and works fabulously.

Taking the rest of the venting out tomorrow and installing a light rail in the veg room for the LED. significant growth increase from the T5 bank in the last 24hrs. Now we are gonna step it up and finish vegging our SpaceDawg and Timewreck clones. The rest of the day was spent hard at work on the outside plants and everything is looking awesome. trimming a little differently now thanks to some information passed along by another grower. hoping for the best lets see if the new veg fixes our weak plant vigor otherwise we are just gonna throw in a highg intensity light and heat the whole damn place up too 120 degrees.

Both the same strain in the same soil and same size pot the difference is the one on the left was under the LED veg light for 5 days and the one on the right spent 2 months under a t5 bank....
