The new plants, known as "Colombians," mature in about two months and can be planted at any time of year, meaning authorities will no longer be able to time raids to coincide with twice-yearly harvests. These plants have been genetically improved
The hybrid first appeared in Mexico two years ago but has become the plant of choice for drug traffickers Michoacan, a remote mountainous region that lends to itself to drug production.
Yields are so high that traffickers can now produce as much marijuana on a plot the size of a football field as they used to harvest in 10 to 12 acres. That makes for smaller, harder-to-detect fields, though some discovered Tuesday had sophisticated irrigation systems with sprinklers, pumps and thousands of yards of tubing.
"For each 100 (marijuana plots) that you spot from the air, there are 300 to 500 more that you discover once you get on the ground," Garcia said.

Wheres my credit?? lol anyway its a few miles away, lets go see for our selfs! give up on your trails, and start a quest for the magic roots in mexico. Or stick with the tissuse culture. you could be productive instead of takeing up space with composting roots.

I would have surely thought that in some places that where it was/is legal to grow (be it for medical or not) it would be nice to have a strain that actually did this (especially for outdoors). If Mexico did accomplish this then kudos for sure. Then again, yeah I wonder what kind of impact that could have on an ecosystem. Always something to consider.

is never underestmate anyone based on race, culture, religion, or what you where lead to believe on how they live
do you realize if you where to make a salad
90% of th veggies you would put in it come from mexico farm
and you really think they cant master a simple urb (fyi. most of our urbs come from there also)
or do you think we or someone else (other then mexico farms) stablize and master genes of fruit and veggies then we are kind enuff to send them the strains we would like for them to grow for us
because they are not smart enuff or advanced enuff to figure out how to isolate strains to grow for uniformity

As far as them being resistant to weed killer that is just a gene in the plant. They have been doing this for years now with other veggies like soy and it has become a pretty common thing nowadays. And although I have heard many bad things about doggies nuts seeds they have a strain called Big Bad John that is supposed to be able to put off sprouts from its roots after it has been harvested. So I am not surprised that the drug cartels have jumped on the band wagon of auto flowering strains. And I m sure in the future we will see more and more breakthroughs in marijuana because its one of the biggest cash crops in the world and with all that money people will be putting at least some of it into research and genetics.

Also forgot to mention that these need to be pulled by the root from authorities or they will regrow themselves from a simple chop

    lets recap

Nah man, not because of race/culture or anything like that at all. What I am saying is that there are other regions that have seriously made some moves in the cannabis research field. Like I said, if Mexico did create such a strain, right on. I just would have thought that Holland or somewhere else where open breeding programs take place would have come up with this along time ago. Please do not take my previous comment as racist in anyway. I am actually aware quite a bit of our produce is grown in Mexico. I have actually been on this forum defending Mexican strains of Cannabis because people think its all brick/dirt weed... I like reminding people of the Highland Oaxaca's, Guerrero Green, Acapulco Gold, Michoacan..so on and so forth.

By no means did I mean to imply that Mexico was/is incapable of manipulating genetics. People have been dealing with selective breeding since we started growing crops and raising livestock.

I just wish there was a little more info on this. I am a skeptic when it comes to the media and any Gov agency making claims about Cannabis. Sure you can understand that. I was actually thinking that it was propaganda to raise money for more equipment etc. "We can't fight this new strain the same way we used to, we need --------" type of deal.

By all means it has my interest. Someone mentioned Big Bad John or something like that. Anybody grown it out and seen it pop new sprouts? Be cool to see a grow journal on that.
