i have pretty much the same amount of space and im running a 600w cooltube with a nexgen ballasts with a digilux bulb. i use a portion of the space to keep my seedlings under a 150 watt feliz cfl. the ballasts is switchable to 400w/600w so i can downgrade if i choose to

Epic that's a big help, I was worried that 600w would be pushing it. I am moving my veg station into my rubbermaids so I can put a couple more in flower. You think the cooltube is necessary for the heat control? Was hoping just to use a batwing/gull reflector and have an additional fan inside to move air besides the intake fan. Eventually I will move veg into my closet shelf again. How many you go in that space? I want to put all 10 under and try to add a few more, I will ad cfls as necessary. You have a journal 4ganja?

i heard a 600 watt can grow 6 wonderful plants and 10 would be pushing it but it might work with the cfls. i just dicided to grow 6 instead having to struggle with space. the only reason i got the cooltube is because it came in a packaged deal (ballast, cooltube, diglux bulb, etc.).im sure the reflector will be fine just have air flow going. nah i dont have a journal yet but im going to make on next grow because im already two weeks into my ice cream grow

also having so much problems with that next gen ballast my light keeps on turning off and i have to turn my ballast off and on every hour of the day so if you dont already have a ballast stay away from next gen although i heard the phantom was great

I think the narrow. Reflected area should help but I guess cfls will def be used for sure then. Not like I don't have plenty. Yeah thinking phantom, quantum , lumatek, getting a quote this week from a friends shop. Two more seedlings just popped soil, and 1 is a strain I've been trying to get for 7 years so I want more room to make some mothers so I will be using the boxes for the veg and mothers. Closet to flower only for now. I just installed the exhaust and am mounting the fan tomorrow. Some black/white poly and the light and I'm good. Boxes are getting tough to work with, vegged way to long and height is up, they are coming out of the boxes Sunday latest. Actually just had to top a couple that were unable to be tied further and it was chop or burn. I trimmed it and through it into cure. Better than wasting it. 3 weeks premature. Oh well. Probably about a g when dry.

yah man i would do the same but i dont have money to buy a new one so im gonna have to work with that til harvest.yah that must be a special strain if you been trying to grow it for 7 years now good luck with that hope it comes out bomb.right now im gonna start using the LST method to utilize space as much as i can. yah i put up that 2 faced poly too i like it better than the mylar makes my grow room look like an oven

lst helped me alot, but would way rather have grown from seed and topped for four colas. There's only so much the lst helped with the stretch in the rubbermaid before they got too tall still. Had to do some emergency topping last nite. No choice. Oh well, trimmed and threw it into cure.

Yeah the strain has been around and a couple lucky folks have acces to it every 3-4weeks but it's the farmers own strain and he ain't telling, or selling clones/seeds, well I saw 5 seeds in 7 years. 3 this month and 1 grew, first true leaves today! Even if it turns out a dude I'm going to breed Er with the og strains I have and probably save the pollen in case the hempstar seed I have produces a female.
Yeah I might leave the Mylar up in the veg area as is and poly the rest. Not a fan of Mylar, not just look, feels like an oven. I want to get baked not bake plants,

haha hell yeah..i got my ballast workiing now the guy at my hydro shop said to just switch it to a different outlet and it has been running ever since.. do you notice a difference in yield with the FIM and LST.. those are some pretty cool veg boxes you made, i made mine out of a shelf and just put poly all around its not as sofisticated as yours but it works for me. im planning on breeding my sour diesel and abusive og with my ice cream hopefully it comes out good

Thanks the boxes have been a learning experience, lol especially this lesson... Don't paint the bottom of the inside with white... It will chip/dissolve weaken. Foil tape if you have to. The white didnt adhere well to black. 5 plants in 2 gallon pots are too big. Especially If Sativas and vegged even to 18" before flower with lst. I actuall found early lst may have caused me more problems than solved in the boxes, although I can't imagine how tall they would have been without lst!!! Also the cfm's from one good Pc fan is not enough with a carbon filter on the end o exhaust. Caused major issues when I introduced one to the c3000 box. Lesson learned. Also, paint chipping and falling on plants is not cool. I vacuum the loose paint everytime I open it now and foil tape over any problem areas. I blame my poor outdoor humid January weather painting for the weak bond between the two colors, that and moving the boxes around alot. Black and white poly would have been much wiser. I spent so much money on the boxes and they really will serve a good purpose but the closet is a far better box lol

Poly and shelves will do it! After all I've spent I think simple is often the best choice, except when safety is concerned. My motto is "more safety, less fire". I don't skimp on safety.

As far as yield, I'm about to find out in 2-3weeks, I fim two plants very early on in veg, topped and lst'd others, but I did lst them all. I am thinking lst is not something I will do for as long next go and perhaps later on in veg. My two new seedlings will not be lst'd much and not before topping for four colas. I will not fimm anymore unless experimenting. I will be topping using uncle bens method as I have almost 8 feet of height for fower once I get the hps this week and put them in the closet.

Those strains sound interesting, never had abusive og or ice cream, love diesel crosses tho. I'm gonna breed this og strain as soon as I get a male. I'd prefer to grow from seed if the cross is nice.

Learned some this week, I now know what nute overdose looks like, I mistook lack of light penetration to lower canopy for n deficiency and paid the price for my mistake. Burnt the shit out of them. Lots of irreversible foliage damage, lost a pile of lower foliage. It's been a game of let's pick out the fans as they die a withering burning death. I also learned how much n overdose affects MJs ability to deal with heat. Boxes run hot and with over n'ing, they burnt literally from heat. Pulled off carbon filter and is surviving now. No food for awhile. The damage was a week ago and look much better but I really fucked up the 5 ladies in the 2000 and kinda fucked up the 3000. The 3000's ladies all stretch so bad I couldn't bend any more and had to top... Sucks. The heat burnt the tops where I topped cause of n od. Embarrassing but that's the way she goes, big oops. Hopefully hps will help balance the yield loss from this damage.

Fuck my life, that was n burn in one, it's thrips, they are even on my seedlings. Gonna have to find me some spinosad.

yah i might have try that one day.. my veg room is only 2x2 so i can only veg for about 2 or 3 weeks than i have to switch to my 600 also its not light tight so i cant have plants vegging while im flowering. the shelf is made out of metal so i dont really have to worry about fire or anything like that but i get poor ventilation.

yah this is gonna be my first time breeding so hopefully they come out good im excited about the sour diesel x ice cream cross im gonna call it sour cream..haha

damn thats terrible to hear man i had spider mites once i would spend all day tring to smash as many as i could with my finger then i put some ladybugs in my grow room and that helped alot. right now i think i have an n deficiency on one of my plants but im not sure yet it could just be that my ph is too high so well see how that goes..that sucks i hope those thrips die a horrible death..good luck

Lol I was so worried about the damn seedlings I tore one of the leafs trying to get the beasts. They chewed it pretty good but the neem and soap got rid of em for now, getting some predators Monday. Luckily it appears I have killed all the ones in my flower boxes.

Not worrying about fire is good lol more safety, less fire is always my motto. Lightproofing honestly consumed a large part of my budget! . But if you can do it... Perpetual is awesome lol and I'm just getting started. My clones have vegged 10 weeks now in 4x4 little pots and are almost 3 feet high lol they are gonna be trees when I flip em In two weeks.

Never heard of ice cream but that names hilarious. Let me know how it goes
