I set up the room and startted chopping. I knew the day was coming, and lights out seemed like a sign. These buds were a lot of fun to trim. I even had the misses into it. She sat down just to hang out and ended up manicuring the hell out of some buds. It was a great night. Anyways - I should have somewhere between 2.5 & 3.5 OZ when it's all dry. It's all hung. It smells wonderful! Can't wait to get a good smoke session in...
The plant is starting to get a gangtser lean, so I probably ought to tie it up just to make sure she doesn't buckle anywhere. The buds aren't HUGE, but most are pretty decent. I hope to get a couple or a few OZ dry weight off of her. I will most likely flush sometime this week, and then harvest sometime in the next 14 to 20 days. Let me know what you think of her.

This may be a dumb question, but does anyone know what the little balls with spikes on the end are? Will these eventually get the little ball on the tip like the rest have? Also - I have NO IDEA what the pink thing is. I found at least one on all 3 leaves I clipped! Is it a weird genetic thing, or something floating around my room getting stuck to the plant? Who knows? I did hit one leaf with a quick shot of duster, and it didn't remove whatever the pink shit was. I can't see it with my bare eyes either. I am not worried about it, just curious. Also - I know it's not harvest time yet... Just curious as to what mine looked like.

I'm guessing I should be getting close to harvest, as these things seem to add 5-10% more weight every night. If she looks right, I will flush next week using Sledge Hammer and give her nothing but plain, ph balanced water until the end. I started using "Gravity" flower hardener in conjunction with the Fox Farm Lineup. We'll see how that does - at $26 for a small bottle, it better give me rock hard nugs, lol.

Quick update on the fungus gnats - They are pretty well erradicated as far as I can tell, though I know there could still be some larvae lurking...

Quick update on the fungus gnats - They are pretty well erradicated as far as I can tell, though I know there could still be some larvae lurking beneath the surface so I won't quit using the Azamax any time soon. This is what I think caused them to show up in the first place. I wasn't neccessarily over-watering my plants, but I didnt' wait long enough for them to drain off completely. I always water until I see water run-off in the saucer, the problem was when I moved the plant to it's new saucer it was still dripping a little bit. This water was sitting underneath the pot in the saucer. I don't know how many times I could have done that, but this time when I picked the plant up (dry, straight out of the closet) to water her up - there was a little puddle in the tray with some dead gnats in it. Granted they were all dead, but still - that makes perfect sense!!! That's where the excess water, or "fungus gnat breeding pool" was hiding. I'm glad the problem didn't get any worse before I corrected it!

And an update on the plants -- First off, the taller one is 43". I didn't measure the shorter one, but my guess is she's somewhere around 34-37" tall now. They are both pretty healthy - but they are a little stretchy. I'm not sure if that's the genes, or something I've done, but the light has only been 4" above them the whole time, so I'm leaning towards genetics. Then again, it could be the fact that they're in a small closet that's only 2' deep, so the side branches grow out and then straight up to get to the top of the canopy. So I guess that is probably my fault, but I'm growing with the space & genes that I have, so it'll just have to do. They started to show pistils right around day 20, and they're 45 days old now, so I figure they're 3 weeks & 4 days into flower. Between days 30 & 40 they literally MORE THAN TRIPLED in size. The bigger one is pretty much hogging the light now. The smaller girl is by no means neglected, but she is definitely on the back burner for now. I was thinking about making her entirely into either hash or some edibles....

So - I ended up donating the Bubblelicious to a friend. I'm actually on my way out the door to go check it out, and get some water/nute solution Ph'd for him.

Anyways - I'm on day 45 for the bigger girl, 43 on the smaller girl. They are doing great still. I can't believe how friggin tall these girls got - the name "Short Rider" was a bit misleading... maybe I just got a different Phenotype though. The taller one is approx 40" tall, the shorter one is maybe 3' tall. On day 20 they were about 1' to 14" tall, so they pretty well TRIPLED in overall size in just 20 days. I think I could have gotten away with topping or supercropping, but didn't try because I was under the impression that it's bad to stress/stunt autoflowering plants due to their short veg cycle. Anyways, at day 20 I discontinued the Fox Farm Grow Big, and switched to Flowering Nutrients. My last feeding was: (all fox farm) 3tsp Big Bloom, 2tsp Tiger Bloom, 1/4 tsp ChaChing, 2Ml Humboldt Roots, 1Ml Cal/Mag and 1Ml Azamax which was all Ph'd to 6.3.

I did have a small Fungus Gnat problem, but amazingly it was cured with 1 application of the Azamax. That's also why I used the Humboldt Roots so late in the game - I figured if the larvae were feeding on my roots - a little love for them couldn't hurt. I think I will continue to follow the manufacturers reccomended dosing schedule on the Azamax just incase some of the larvae survived and are on their way to becoming adults ready to fuck and make more babies to eat my precious roots.

Anyways - the buds are really starting to develop. They are getting more dense, and are starting to grow together/ fill in. The way I figure, I'm somewhere in the 3rd week of flower (day 45 overall minus 20 since that's when 1st pistils showed up = day 25 in flower?). Hopefully she doesn't decide to finish up in the 60 days as advertised by Nirvana. I really hope that I can keep her producing buds for another 35 days minimum so I get a total of 8 weeks in flower. Longer than that is ok with me too. I am not going to chop her based on # of days... I'm going to watch closely and chop when SHE tells me to.

Enough RAMBLING - here it is - 3 glamour shots of some premature buds (don't laugh)

As stated in earlier journal entries - not sure why all my pictures look YELLOW! She is luscious green still. I need to get another camera or something I guess.

If anyone has grown this strain before, could you tell me how these compared to yours at 45 days? I am anxious to start seeing some trichome development because as of right now - there is very little, pretty much none at all, trichomes on my girl. KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED that she "frosts up" soon.

Keep it green guys. Thanks for stopping by. I would post many more updates if I had EVEN ONE person subscribed to my journal :(

Anyways - here they are. These plants are moving right along. Haven't had any major problems other than a small # of gnats, but they'll be taken care of at lights out tonight. Going to hit them with some neem oil on the leaves, and a Azamax soil drench. They haven't harmed anything yet, just more of an annoyance than anything else.
Starting to get lots of bud-sites all over. The taller plant is still stretching, but the smaller one seems to be topped out.

So this may be completely normal, but I was wondering exactly what it is that I'm seeing? There are little white nubby things that look like the start of roots protruding out from the base of the stalk. They are even up about 4-5" from the base of the soil. Is this just some confused roots that tried to come out and died? I only see these on one plant - the other doesn't have them.

Also - you can see where there is paper-like material on it. The paper looking stuff peeled almost all the way off, but there are still remnants of it near the top of this picture. It almost looked like my plant was "shedding its skin" for a while. Both plants did this. I'm guessing it's normal? The plants are doing great - nice & healthy and starting to get buds all over. I'm not worried about them at all, just a little curious as to what the little bumps are. I feel bad for her because they look like herpes, but I tell all my friends she's not contaigous!

:wall:

So I should have stuck with my instinct and only grown one or two plants. My Bubblelicious who was started the latest has been struggling for light since she started, and has therefore become increasingly stretchy. Her side branches don't get anything on them until they get tall enough and find a spot to poke through the canopy. I'm at a crossroads. This also seems to be affecting my Short Ryders - they all need more space. I don't have another room or light to use. I'm debating on whether to give the Bubblelicious to a friend, or leave her outdoors for the remainder of her life. I'm not in a real safe area to keep her outside though.

This afternoon when I got off work I was watering the girls & got fed up with the lack of space (2x4x10). So I took the Bubblelicious outside for the time being. She'll have to be ok with it until I can figure out a more permanent solution. She just started showing pistils and is getting a REALLY funky smell. Anyways, it's down to 2 plants - both Short Ryders - in the closet for now.

I didn't feel like pulling them all out and taking individual pictures, so this one will have to do for now. They are all kind of crammed together in there. It is crazy how fast these girls are growing now too. I thought that once I started seeing some pre-flower, vertical growth would slow down. This hasn't been the case at all!!!!! It is pretty well everyday that I have to move my HPS up a little higher. I know - why not move it up like a foot higher so I don't have to mess with it for a week or so, right? Well - the hood is air-cooled, so I can get it really close to the plants (which is my preference) without burning them or exposing them to excessive temperatures. And, since my light is only 250 watts, I want to get the maximum efficiency out of it possible. I can put my hand ON the glass that encloses my hood, and it's barely even luke-warm. Plus after seeing how bad the Bubblelicious stretched when she was about 2' from the light, I don't want to make the same mistake with the 2 plants I'm counting on.

Bud sites are developing a little bit of everywhere. Nothing big yet, but I'm sure hoping that will come with time. I have been trying to figure out when I will flush them. I would prefer to do 2 flushes- one about a month before they're done, and another when they're about 2 weeks from finishing. After the flush, all they will get is Cal/Mag and plain PH Balanced water. At least that's the plan anyways. It's just so hard to gauge since I don't know how much longer they will need. Just going on what I've seen photo plants do, I am wanting to say another 6 weeks minimum. But, I've never seen anything that grows like these girls. They're fast. They're different. So maybe they'll surprise me and be ready in 3 or 4 weeks? Who knows? If I only get one flush in, it will be late late late in the cycle... but I plan on using 9 gallons of PH balanced water with some Fox Farm Sledge Hammer for EACH 3 gallon container.

Ohhhh... one more thing - FUCK YOU FUNGUS GNATS! YOU WILL ALL BE STUCK TO LITTLE YELLOW STICKY PADS UNTIL YOU STARVE TO DEATH.... THAT IS, UNTIL THE HYDRO SHOP OPENS ON FRIDAY AND I GET SOME POISON TO FUCK YOUR LITTLE WORLD UP! Sorry... just had to vent. Everything has been looking good, and then these little fuckers come around. They don't seem to be bothering they plant at all which is the only good thing about them. I've inspected the stalks and every single leaf up close & personal and there are no signs of them. They are just hanging out in the soil. Can anyone tell me what kind of damage they do? Besides pissing me off, I can't see what they're hurting.

So- not much to really post on here, the plants seem to be doing great. I am a little displeased with the way they're stretching, but I think it's my fault. I have 3 plants under the HPS, and it seems like they are competing too much for the light. The side branches aren't getting much growth on them - they just shoot/stretch all the way to the top of the canopy and try to be the tallest so they get most light.... greedy little fuckers. There should be plenty at the bottom for them!!!! I can't complain though, they are healthy and happy, so I don't mind seeing a little bit of stretch. I don't have to punish them. Although next time I think I will do at least SOME LST.

As of the time of these pictures, the bigger Short Ryder was 30 days old, smaller one was 28, and Bubblelicious was 22. Sorry - my pictures got out of order when I transferred them from one device to the other, so I'm just posting them all together - -- +
-

The Short Ryders started getting flowering nutrients yesterday -- Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom, Humboldt Roots, and some Cal/Mag+.

The Bubblelicious got Some more Big Bloom, Grow Big, Humboldt Roots, and Cal/Mag+

Let me know what you guys think - I'm open to any/all suggestions. I'm pretty happy to see the two Short Ryders started to auto-flower as advertised. I read a lot of people stating that autos are unstable and weak genetics, but I can't complain - but maybe I'm one of the lucky few who've gotten that desirable pheno... we'll see. I'm still keeping fingers crossed that the Bubblelicious will come out pink and delicious - she's starting to show sex, but not quite in what I call pre-flower yet.

Thanks for looking. If I had ANYONE subbed, I would update as often as they asked, but since I seem to be the only one in here, it will likely be on a weekly basis until it's time for bud porn.

Sorry it's been so long, there just hasn't been much to report.

Everything is looking great. All is well. One Short Rider is 23 days old, the other is 20 days old, and the Bubblelicious is 15 days old. I've been sticking to the same nutrients as before - Fox Farm Big Bloom, Fox Farm Grow Big, Humboldt Roots, and Cal/Mag+. I feed with nutes once, then plain Ph balanced water the next time. They really seem to like what they're getting.

I did figure that some better circulation would be helpful. I installed an inline duct fan rated 160 cubic ft per minute. I figure the part of the closet I'm actually using is 2x4x10, or 80 cubic ft. So I am basically clearing the air out of the room every 30 seconds. It is pulling cold air in from the office, through the air cooled hood, and out the far side of my closet. It really has helped keep the temperature steady, and I've been able to get my plants much closer to the light. It is staying between 71-73 degrees F, and humidity has been between 51-56%.

The 20 day old Short Rider actually started to flower this morning. Last night she didn't show any signs, and this morning there are pistils out all over her. I'm pretty happy about that, but it also brings up a question... Is it time to switch to flowering nutrients? It seems SOOOOO early, but then again, I'm not used to these autoflowering plants.

And here is the 23 day old plant that is just barely starting to show signs of pre-flower, but no pistils coming out yet...

Let me know what you think. I'll post a picture of the bubblelicious after the lights go out tonight. I don't want to pull them all out again.
