Outdoor strain selection
I've decided to start a Journal on Outdoor Strain selection. Just because you have a killer strain, really sticky, short stature, fat rock hard colas....on an indoor plant, does this mean it will act the same outdoors. No, it will probably be alot better, because the suns light intensity cant't be beat. But outdoors there are just as many variables, many of which you can't control to take into consideration.First and most important in my book is mold and bud rot resistence. I can't tell you how many plants are put outside which are almost doomed for disaster from the start because most srtains bred today are for indoor not outdoor growing. I've found most dutch bred seeds are for the most part DOOMED FOR DISASTER from the start. This is why i am again searching for great outdoors strains. Most of these can be found from canadian breeders whose outdoor environmental factors are much worse than ours. An example would be next generation seed co. They in my book have much more mold resistent genes bred into their strains making them much more usuable in outdoor projects. Romulan in my experience is a prime example of a pretty mold resistant early finishing strain....not saying all romulan seedlings are mold resistant but in field plantings where other strains were covered this one was untouched.....so I believe either I was just lucky or what I TRULLY BELEIVE WAS A MOLD RESISTENT STRAIN. Subcools Chernobyl and Crazy Train are also on my list of outdoor strains to try for mold resistence and I'm currently testing these 2 strains. More on this topic to come in the near future. Have you found a true outdoor gem. Peace
