15% is a bit much, but the smaller the amount you buy the higher the percentage of premium. Buy a minimum 1 troy ounce bullion and you should be able to get a much better price. try APMEX http://www.apmex.com/Category/1152/C...Gold_Bars.aspx $1693 for a one ounce suisse bar. $45 over spot which is about 3% premium.

I need to buy some gold... I've been asking myself the same questions as you. So far I've been told stick to coins and coin shops.. and not to buy large gold bars, as if you try to sell the large bars (like say 10oz) you have to get the grade verified and what not..

But I just feel like going through coin dealers for multiple coins would just be tedious.. That apmex $1700 ounce looks pretty nice !

i remember when an ounce of weed was more then an ounce of gold. i knew 1600 was way high. a quick search set me straight.

back to eBay to buy more antique fishing lures. prices on those are hella cheap right now.

As has been said, watch out bro, gold is just out of an all-time high, and historically speaking gold is used as a "wealth dump" to protect against a weak dollar...look how it wobbled a bit when better than expected US stats came out.

The big money is metals has passed I reckon, might squeeze a bit more out, but ultimately it's peaked...kinda like my high...joint time.

Establish a relationship at your local pawn shop. Thats more important then the spot price at the moment.
Maybe you have some barter goods that pawn shops do not usually barter.
