He's venting his 600 W light, meaning that the air is being drawn from somewhere within his house, so in turn he is sucking all the A/C out of his house, and his central air is working overtime.

What do you think costs more to run, a 4.5kw central air system, or a 600 watt light for a couple hours during peak?

I pull cool air from a bedroom next to my grow room and vent that through my lights and into the attic but I;m in a sealed room. Maybe he should suck air from another room or area of the house..

That won't COMPLETELY fix it. If you are venting air at all from your house even from an adjacent room, you create a negative pressure that has to be filled somehow.

Sealed does end up being way cheaper in terms of electricity cost, but you need to figure out a solution for a/c or venting your lights that does not create a negative pressure in your house or room... if you want to do it efficiently.

How big is the closet? Turning down the fan from 440 CFM would help tremendously as 440 CFM is enough fresh air to run a 20 X 10 room, and probably 2 or 3 times the amount you need to cool that light down.

If the intake and exhaust speeds are dialed into one another, temps will not be an issue and the efficiency would be much greater.

I dont have any problems in my sealed room.. The central AC in the room takes care of my heat my fans pull air to cool the 1000W HPS.. Even when I ran one 1000W HPS my electric bill only jumped up about 30-50 dollars.

Whats the purpose of sealing the room and then having an intake and an exhaust for the fans? Can't you just use wings and 86 the hoods altogether? Or is your AC not enough to handle the heat?

The heat from the 1000W is too much, you might be able to do that with 600W but no way can I do that with the 1000W HPS just too much heat I have a 675 CFM 8'' Max fan pulling air from the hoods and about 24'' inches under the lights my temps are 80-83 degrees.. I know exactly what you mean and I dont think using just the reflector wings would work in a grow room my size ( 10' x 10' ) Those winged reflectors are perfect for sealed grow rooms that are big and perfect for a commercial scale grow, but I'm just a hobby grower, I been thinking about downgrading to 600W's because two 1000's is a lot of heat in my grow room. SInce I use my central AC and actually live in my home I try and keep the AC between 74-75 degrees. I guess I could just use the winged reflectors but I'd have to run my AC at 65 and we would be wearing sweaters in my house.

He is paying so much because his central air, which I'm guessing is running at least at 4.5KW, is running all day, turning off and on far more frequently than it should be, because he is sucking air out of his house at 440 CFM. This is not because of a 600 W light which is only costing at most 15 cents an hour to run during peak hours.
I was only commenting on a lighting time change not whether it will save him money or not.

So you don't have a portable Ac unit in that room?

I have a room with 4 1000's in it and am running a 14k btu portable and it's working out ok. Just have to keep 4 large oscilating fans going on the canopy. I do have the hoods cooled but the exhausting air is just exhausting right into the room. The AC is just working non stop. Then I have a fan outside the room blowing fresh air into the room for 1hr every 3hrs.

Nope no AC unit, The central AC that is in the room keeps things pretty cool I have it blowing down into a oscillating fan I can keep two 1000W HPS at 83 degrees with co2 using my Max fan and AC. I exhaust the hot air into the attic. I'm sure you are battling a lot of heat issues because even with two 1000's its hard so I can only imagine growing with 4
