are you going to check the trichs before you cut or just cut them on a certain number of days in flower? 7 weeks in flower. did you start counting from day one or after they showed sex? to me, and to the breeders of most genetics, those would only be about 39 days in flower if day one was when the light schedule was changed.
once i started checking the trichs, and getting a feel for what high i liked, i found that it was a very good investment. i cut anywhere from mostly clear and a few cloudy to mostly couldy with a few amber. i prefer the mostly cloudy!

1. I check trichs and like to look for 50/cloudy 50/amber or close to that..
2. BeaverHuntr checks for trichs with his 15 dollar microscope from radio shack its covered in sticky hash
3.I count flowering from first day of 12/12
4. Not really I do check hairs too but mostly rely on trichome look.

I harvest 1 week after sprout cure in bud candy smoke 5 min later.

And NPK is overrated just water with kool-aid..... pick flover depended on taste of yohr bud.

i've never gotten to more than a few amber. my genetics would take 90 days to get that far and i'm not waiting that long!

In my Opinion....
If you count flowering from day one of 12/12 I can not see having 50% ambers in trichomes.(Depends on strain) Most strains will stretch for 2-3 weeks after being under 12/12 ... That means only 5-6 full weeks of budding after stretch..
So you really need to Subtract the stretch time or you are pulling premature buds....
What strains are you running??
I didnt say I harvested from the starting day of 12/12 I dont even scope my buds usually until the breeders 12/12 finishing time nears, the breeders just put faster flowering times on their seeds to make the buyers want to buy them.. I find myself usually chopping 7-15 days longer than what the breeder says or when I start seeing mostly cloudy/amber trichomes.
Strains I'm running now look to be 12 week finsihers.. Blue Dream, Lavender, and Larry OG
If you harvest on the first day of 12/12 there would be NO buds... I did not say thing dude...
What I am saying is that you count day 1 of the flower cycle when the lights are switched to 12/12
When you do this the plant stretches the first 2-3 weeks and then starts to flower... So that is the reason why you have to go over a week or longer... it is because the day you are counting as day 1.... Nothing wrong with it... especially if you are checking trichomes...
In My opinion... It is just a better practice.. To start day 1 of flower when the plants stop stretching and show good signs of pre flower...
I am running blue dreams.... Several harvests (3). This strain stretches for a good 3 weeks and a few days over.... If you count the day 1 when she was put under 12/12 it would take over 11 weeks to finish... But if you waited until the stretch was over it will finish in 8-9 weeks...
But just what I do..... It is alot easier to determine harvest day... All strains stretch different and will throw off the harvest day alot... Its cool just a guessing game when counting day 1 of flower at 12/12 switch...

1. I like chopping at about 25% clear, 50 % milky and 25% amber ( one stop I'll look, see about 20 heads, 10 being cloudy and a mix of amber and clear...that's how I get that number)nice looking buds. some of your leaves took a beating though!

2. I check trichromes with a 60-100x microscope. (needs to me my friend alcohol)
3. I start day one from when I switch my lights. To me the breeders give you a general idea of when they should be done. The rest is up to you.
4. Not really...usually I will go and smell it. Some of the strains just have a "finished" smell to them. Others stink the same way throughout most of the grow but I must have some unique ones. When they are finished...they literally tell me!
