hey trich, check greentrees hydroponics for cultilene rockwool, thats where ive gotten it, i also like the sure to grow cubes 1 1/2x1 1/2, they stay dry, as with there hail, doesnt "hold" water. The sure to grow loose fill hold water, gotta use the hail cubes, allows lots of free air space so the mist can penetrate better, (if using a medium of course). And i also noticed that someone awhile back mention the 1/4"nptf jg adapters for your misters were female, actually the f is referring to food, the packaging will arrive with a fork in the lower corner. Bout to bite the bullet and have to drop some $$$ to get my accumulator from the uk, gave my high pressure tank to my buddy who took the old stainless misting system trying to repair it, what a difference a few years makes, now i cant find anything above 150psi, and its cheaper to by a 300L tank and ship to the us than to have one made, so ill be ordering 2.

Pumping 42+ gallons into each tank (100psi-230psi) with a test pump wont be much fun, it`ll take a minimum of 2 hours per tank

I wrote the software for a usb cycle timer, it works ok considering i only have about a months worth of programming experience. I`m more comfortable with a soldering iron, some veroboard (stripboard) and simple electronic components

Oops, atomizer, I was making a point of how expensive it'd be to by a 16 bar tank here in comparison to one that large shipped. I'm looking at 2 Elbi 60l tanks, 15.85 gal, one for nutes, one for flush, may get another so I don't have to connect 3 4.5g for veg/clones. After reading my post, yeah, my arm would be toast pumping that by hand, LOL. New test pump arrived, a nice upgrade from the rp30 I have to say.

Accumulators seem to cost silly money in the states for some reason, i picked up a brand new 100L 10 bar tank last week for £30

Im not sure why, my last tanks were 20 bar stainless 14 gal local made for 400 5 yrs ago, now I can't find anybody local who makes even 10 bar. Maybe Watts is putting everyone out of business with there 2 gal, and 4.5 gal expansion tanks rated to 10 bar. I know I like the UK tanks a lot more than Watts or utilitech tanks. Will pay for the Elbi tank, which can be fixed if it goes out, and will last, so the shipping WILL really suck, but the reliability will be worth it.

A fork eh? What exactly is it you're smoking over there? Thanks for the cultilene link, gonna check it out now. I searched high and low after realizing the grodan holds stupid amounts of water even compared to the rockwool I used 20 years ago. Why anyone would want this much water holding in rockwool in any situation is beyond me... It reminds me more of shredded cotton.

EDIT: So I looked over there, and didn't notice cultilene, however they have a product called "Pargro" which is made by Grodan but claims to hold 14% less water than cultilene. If you have any links please share them as I am not sure I'd trust any Grodan product after my experiences. I am using thier minicubes currently, and it's causing me a lot of issue keeping the correct amount of moisture, although I am getting better with it.

So, a deeper look into seed germination yielded some nuggets of info I'm about to test. I've had some seeds from a Holland seedbank that are not germinating, and I'd hate to lose them. I found that nitric oxide tends to help along the germination process, and is not surprising because it is a component of smoke. Everyone that has seen a plot of land recently after a forest fire knows that the soil is fertile and grows lots of plants at the opportunity of first rain. I was thinking of ways to best deliver smoke to my seeds and thought about a bottle of liquid smoke in my pantry. A little investigation into things gave me this info:

So, I've tried about 3 drops of liquid smoke in just enough r.o. water to wet a paper towel, and rolled my seeds up in the wet smokey towel. I'll let you guys know how it goes in the next few days... Funny how my searches for "increasing seed germination" did not give me any info on using smoke, but only when reading a scientific paper when they referenced nitric oxide did I make the connection. But as you can plainly see, wikipedia does mention liquid smoke as a probable seed germination helper... I can't wait to prove if this works or not for me
