In aero setups your roots may not come in contact with still water. Your roots receive intervals of watering/misting which keep roots moist but also allow for them to get oxygen. If your roots begin to grow into the standing water an airstone will make sure that your submerged roots will receive the right amount of oxygen. With bubbler/DWC roots are always in the water so they need air. If roots are left in water with out air they will rot.

Hope this helped. Post up some Pics!

Please tell me those holes on your aerogarden are plugged up and I just can't see it some how. lol, how is that plant still alive. The plant actually looks good considering the environment it's in...

^what he said. Remember the more you take care of your girls the more they will take care of you. Keeping a clean and organized grow space is essential. make sure those holes are plugged. Light+roots=one unhappy plant. Also what are you using for nutes?

Sounds and looks like your off to a decent start. Just keep those holes covered. Do you have a PH meter? Are you using tap water? And what are you going to do when your plant reaches to the top?
