I am using an AeroGarden at the moment, but this setup will limit you on how much you will yield. This bubbleponics system is what I'm upgrading to next, but eventually I'm going to build a perpetual system.

Anyway, you really need to do some research on cultivation of marijuana
specifically before deciding to grow. These plants are very finicky with light and nutrients, so be warned.
ur using the aerogarden now? How much can you yield up to if it's full of females?

It's not so much a matter of hiding. When you force your plants to flower, they will need to be in complete darkness. If any light reaches the plant, it will go into protection and pollenate itself, thus bringing seeds into the bud.

As for yield, I'm not sure yet. I wouldn't recommend growing more than 3 plants at a time, since the roots will completely take over the res. I'm guessing maybe around an ounce per plant if done correctly, but this is just an estimation.

Yes, all the aerogardens will work fine. Some may be a little better than others, but they all get the job done.

I started out with the Aerogarden and it's a bit limited. The reservoir is small enough (only about 1.5 gallons) that you really have to watch it like a hawk when the plants are big. Also, you are risking the health of the plants if you head off for a long weekend when the plants are mature since the resv. can go dry in just over a day with 3-4 plants. It is certainly a great learning tool, and I would tell folks to buy it if they are looking to get into hydro.

But I did move to bubbleponics and use my old aerogarden light hood (with extra CFLs on the side) for light. I keep 6 gallons of water in mine and don't have to watch it quite as closely as my old aero. Also, I could push it and put 7-7.5 gallons in there if I needed to leave it alone. You do have to watch the PH closely in a bubbleponics setup as it can creep up quickly, but it's a tradeoff between no water (aero) and high PH (bubble) if you have to leave the system on its own for a couple of days. The aerogarden pro hood uses about 80 watts when the lights are on, so you don't use a ton of power (the water pumps dont use more than a couple of watts.)

With an aerogarden, your best bet is to probably stick with autoflowering plants as they are nice and compact. The auto AK47 might have the greatest yield, but you could ask that question on it's own in another thread.

I'm not trying to talk you out of the aerogarden--its a pretty nice 'getting started' system. You just might outgrow it as I did. You should keep your eye out as you do see used systems show up on auction sites from time to time and this may save you some coin. If you buy a used model, the operating instructions are available for download.
