I germinated mine via the paper towel method, on top of my cable box with a towel over the top just to keep it dark and a little warm. They all popped literally in hours.

Dittos to Krak and a little rep. As to the AG I skip the paper towel stage and go direct to the sponges with the seeds pointed end down and throw half of a big nute in there. Have tried it with and without the nutes and will assure you its better with. I seem to have a superior germ rate using that program as opposed to making them break tails in the wet paper towel. I have had a bunch with tails which refused to grow. Sometimes they just rot in the sponges. Now as to why some bag seed won't germinate there are a bunch of variables such as dope head maybe drying it out in the oven or perhaps it has passed through the bizness end of somebody's bong. Who knows. As far as turning the broke plant into a lowryder, I would not hold my breath. Think there is a pretty good chance the lost growth will catch up with itself afore it gets useable.

UPDATE TIME:

So the lilest sucker is kicking along sweet with no really major flaws yet. As you can see its got a really defined stem and is starting on its second Node.

The Plan

So i'm growing AG and trying to keep it on the DL a lil so i was going to use Uncle ben's topping method (thankyou ben) to make it a lowryder, but i feel with a plant as stunted as mine i might just let it grow out. Suggestions anybody?

The good news

One of my seeds actually sprouted! I have no idea why, it just happened. the seed has been sitting in wet tea towel for 2 weeks and suddenly decided to sprout. This is really good because now i can compare a plant with stunted growth to one without (assuming nothing goes wrong, fingers crossed)

...and the bad

The leaves are yellowing and drooping at the edges and one at the back of the plant is turning brown and crispy at the end! This happened on my last AG grow and i thought it was because i added too many nutes...but this time i havnt added any nutes and i appear to have the same problem. SO faithful subjects, discuss unto me your thoughts, think you not that the powers you bear with us will cut the passage to the land of Bud? Doing the harvest and the AG?

Also, green gunk is growing on the top of my grow sponge so i put those little AG paper things around the plant in an effort to get rid of it. Any suggestions would be sweet.

First, congrats on your newly sprouted seed! It will indeed be good for comparison purposes, not to mention that you can never have too much weed

In regards to topping... If I recall correctly, ben's method calls for letting the plant grow to something like 7 nodes before cutting just above the third (or something like that). The idea is to redirect the hormones that were spurring the growth of the main cola into the branches just below where you cut, resulting in multiple main colas. In any case, I think that your baby is not yet developed enough to be safely topped, and that you should just let it grow naturally.

As far as the deterioration of the leaves, all I can say is that sometimes a nutrient deficiency can look suspiciously like nute burn, despite the fact that they're total opposites. Obviously its not nute burn in this case. Its your call how you want to roll with this, but if this were my grow I would be adding some nutes to that reservoir ASAP. The small size of the plant and droopy leaves could both be indications of under-nourishment.

And I'm not sure what that green gunk on the sponge would be, but you're definitely supposed to have those paper covers on from the very beggining. Seems kinda pointless at first, I know, but they're more important than you'd think. The lights overhead will penetrate the sponges if they're not covered, and basically that boils down to this:

light+heat+moisture=mold

Root and stem rot is no good, believe me, I've found that out first hand. The good news is that those molds are generally white, not green, so lets hope you're ok.

The News

So first up, i added nutes.
I think we may have a problem. The nutes seem to have taken a negative effect on the plant, i cant work out what in particular but i'm pretty sure we have some nute burn going on. Any thought?

I had a look on all the Plant Problems forums to see if it was a generic problem (which it probably is) but too me it looks like too much water, droops leaves curled down at the ends....Is that even possible in an AG?

My little guy sprouted and i think he has been effected too. I only added one small AG nute to the whole tank and that was after my last post so it still might be too strong for the plant.

Questions?

Should i flush it?
Should i just go half on the nutes?
No nutes!?
Go 12/12!....(only joking )

What's your Ph at? Noonetheless, I would flush for 24 hours and then re-nute with 1/4 or 1/2 of a tab. Make sure ph is 5.0 to 6.0, that solves many of the problems.

Oh yeah 4 sure make sure the pH is balanced before anything. And yes, its possible to get moisture stress in the AG. You have airstones running in the rez?

Fucking hate those things, last time i went and bought one at the pet store and to say the least... it sucked shit!
It just rose to the top of the tank and got in the way, freakin annoying shit.
But no matter, if my roots start to show any problems i'll just go find a better airstone.
Does anyone have a possible diagnosis for the problemo though?
