no, it isnt busted.
even given the method he described (which is shaky at best) it is 'possibly' possible.
in a week? hell no. that part is definitely busted.
that tidbit, along with the titles of his supposed degrees ("advanced botanical studies"? its botany or plant biology, that is the most made up degree i've ever heard)
anyways, this guy seems like a real tool. I'm not going to mention where I've studied, but I did recently achieve my bachelors in plant biology, and have been doing plant transformations and tissue culture for the past two years.
many cells in a plant are totipotent, meaning that under THE RIGHT CONDITIONS they are technically capable of reproducing an entire new plant, including embryonic tissue (an important distinction he didnt mention)
this guy sounds like a fucking retard to be honest, giving a bad name to actual botanists who might want to come share the shit we've filled our heads with over the past 4 (ok fine, four and a half) years.
anyways...i'm thinking of ways to do this myself. I wish i'd grabbed some hormones from the school lab before leaving, I just looked up 'trans zeatin riboside', and the shit is like 600 bucks/gram. Just laying the leaves down on wet soil is...more than a longshot, if you're not supplementing with the right hormones at the right time you really dont have much chance of pulling this off. |
