Questions About Uncle Ben's Technique for Multiple Colas

Hey there, Im sure some of you are familiar with Uncle Ben's technique. If not you should research it, it's good stuff! Anyway, my question involves the lighting during this technique.

Would it be acceptable to induce flowering just days after cutting the top?
Or even immediately after?
Or what about using this technique during early stages of flowering?

Also, extreme newb question, how long does it take for a typical indica plant to reach 5-6 true nodes.
