I was only messing anyway
I did overlook it.

For my own area i grow in a wide area pattern so i want to spread the uvb to as many plant tops as possible so i though the best way to do it would be to use a tube as they have the best light spread.
Obviously if you have a small contained grow area you would be better of with a spot lamp.

The spot lamps are probably better and more efficient but i would need 3 or 4 of them to cover my area and only one tube.
So i choose tubes.

yea i seen these Amazon.com: Reptisun 10.0 High Output UVB Lamp - 24 in.: Home & Garden


im trying to incorporate them in a closet setting...

but how do i know how much microwatts per square centimeter ?


like around 100 uW/cm2? how much is too much?

I have no idea mate as this will be my first attempt at using a uvb tube.
I am going to buy a tanning tube with the least amount of emitted uva and see how i go with it.
The instant i notice any ill effects i will either reduce the amount of time i have the bulb on or/and the distance it is away from my plants.
If i notice no effect i will increase the time and shorten the distance.
Play it by ear so to speak.
I dont know about anything of the complexities of uvb,i am just going to go with it and see what comes out

No man that really expensive just for a start.
I am pretty sure you can power these tubes in a normal fluroscent fitting which i already have.

I am going to go for this kind of tube and stick it into a normal 100watt fluro fitting.
It it wont fit properly i will rig it up so it does fit
Ignore the top lamps.
Long light low pressure tubes is what i am talking about.


ISO ITALIA - Tubes, UVA Lamps, UVB Tubes for Sunbeds and Tanning Units

pretty cool...how much are we talking a bulb? i see you said you are saving up....so that must mean they are expensive...
