why is topping not recomended for autoflowering plants

why is topping not recomended for autoflowering plants, and can someone refer me to a good guide to topping if its not a bad idea to do it. I remember seeing a good topping guide somewhere on RIU but cannot seem to find it now

The trouble with topping is it interrupts the rapid vertical growth and forces branches to grow.
This is fine with photoperiod plants as you can veg for as long as you like before flowering.
Autoflowering plants will flower when the plant is a certain age and the plant may not have fully recovered from the interrupted growth, you could end up with several small buds/colas instead of the normal large cola plus a few little ones.

as grumpy said auto have a shelflife of about 60 days start to finnish so they grow quick after 2-3 weeks auto's are allready staring flowering if you top you will have smaller cola's, photoperiod plants no problem you can keep em in veg as long as you like, as you know auto's flower on there own accord, by all means try it but i would not reccomend it just my 2 pennies worth
