How to get rooted clones to last longer prior to planting ?

Looking to get some extended growth and time on rooted cuttings before I transplant them to their final 5 inch hydroton pots. They are presently in Oasis cubes. I have found it very hard to keep them really happy in Oasis cubes for too long and was looking for some more input/ideas on this. Was thinking about putting the tray over another tray of hydroton perhaps.... Not sure honestly. One guy I bought some from had is cubes over a bed of Vermiculite or Perlite I beleive and his were very large like 10-12 inches.

I clone aeroponically until I have a nice root system started (3 wks)

If I veg, I use 3" netted pots w/ hydroton (ebb flow)

In flowering, I use 6" x 6" x 6" square pots filled w/ hydroton

So your Stems/ netty pots are submersed in the Solution ?

im looking to make a cloner like this
do you use a Air stone OR sprinkler set up in your cloner thanks

this is my attemped of making a DWC unit jus to see how it works with cloning pics and video

Impressive grow for 600s !! What strain?

Thanks for the info . Funny thing is I actually tried to run my setup just like this more or less but didnt have good success so I could really use your help if I am to attempt this again. I used a Power Cloner and a Easy Cloner for years until the last 6 months. I tried putting them into 3 inch net pots with hydroton in a small ebb and flow veg tray as you mentioned. Plants just didnt take off. I dont know if I was watering too often or not enough but I gave up on this method after a few poor attempts.

Few questions if you have the time.

a: How big were the plant's height/root's length when you put them in the 3 inch pots ?

b: When you put them in the ebb and flow how often do you water them to start and how fast do you ramp up the waterings?

c: What nutes and how strong fro start to finish in veg?

d: How big are they when you go to 12/12 ?

If I could get them to work in the 3 inch pots it would solve all my problems. I could fit all the clones I need into my vegging trays like that. Right now they go right into 5 inch hydroton pots. They still take a little while to get going but they work quite well. I think I may water too much to start. I usually go right to two floods per 24 hours light and think they might do better with one for the first day or two. Problem is I have others that are at different stages that need it more often. I have One 2 X 3.5 veg tray and a 4X4 veg tray.

Thanks !

...they are 3 weeks from the day I cut clones, I put them straight into flower from clone. sensi seeds big bud, day 1 of flower(2).jpgsensi seeds big bud, day 1 of flower.jpg

b: When you put them in the ebb and flow how often do you water them to start and how fast do you ramp up the waterings?
I flood 4 times per/day "IF" I veg them some, 3 times per/day during bloom.

c: What nutes and how strong fro start to finish in veg?
I use the Lucas Formula >>> https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/338720-lucas-formula.html#post4267692

d: How big are they when you go to 12/12 ?
90% of the time, I put them straight into flower from cloner..."If" if veg , it's never longer than 2 weeks.

I do not use rockwool, rapid rooters, or anything of the type. You shouldn't have any problem overwatering w/ straight hydroton. Good luck....and, you can view my journals in my sig...I pretty much explain everything I do in them.:joint:

Thanks a lot, I'll check them out. So do you actually grow them out at all in the 3 inch pots prior to the 6 inch pots? Those pics look like you put them right into the 6 inchers. Hard to beleive those little guys get as big as they do. Every time I have tried to go from really thin stemmed plants like that to bloom they end up being little runts. I guess I need to do more experimenting.

If I'm a little off schedule I sometimes veg for a wk or so....when you grow from clones, no veg is required, you'll just need to get a root system going.... no top'n , your ladies will make very nice single colas. Lollipop'n in early flower, and late flower fan leaf pruin'n seems to help things out also.

I did try going from clone or even a week of veg to bloom and have always gotten very small single cola bud every time like around 3-4 gram. Usually takes me about 3 weeks from getting roots to go to bloom and they end up 18-20 inches nice fat single cola and 20-30 gram. I am doing something wrong I know. Not sure if I am watering too much or giving to much nutes too early or what. Thats why I was wanting lots of details from your grow. I was soil for 5 years and just went hydro about 6 months ago. Would like to knock off atleast a week from my overall cut to bloom time which right now is 5 weeks total. They just take a while to get going, once they do they take off. I go from oasis cubes under T5s and very very mild nutes to 5 inch potted hydroton and about 900 ppm nutes 2X a day with 24 hours light s on Lots of T5s much closer. Once they start to grow well I put them into another tray with a 600 watt hps 1100 ppm and 4-5 X floods a day 24 hours light. Then FINALLY bloom room. Should be easier I am thinking ... =)

...I checked out your grow show, fat colas there! Co2 seems to bring me a good 1/4 lb more...ever used it? Have you ever gave Lucas formula a try?

Thanks. Did CO2 a long time ago too much of a pain for me. I just doubled my incoming air and seemed to give similar results. Havent done Lucas, Using Advanced on one tray and House and Garden on another. What stregth are you giving them prior to going to bloom? Once in bloom how strong to start.

I use tap water only in my cloner. I keep them in the cloner for 3 weeks while they take root, no rooting hormones, no chemicals at all besides ph down. I then flip them to bloom in ebb'n flow starting around 650 - 700 ppm @ .07 conversion. 1 week into flowering, I give them full strength Lucas formula, 1300 ppm @ .07 conversion.

Thanks ! Couple more ? How often to do you flood the tables week 1 and 2 etc and how long? I have been going right to 3 @ 15 minutes. You have really helped me a lot, thank you very much ! I was going right to full bloom nutes week 1 @1300 PPM. Are you using any veg nutes in the first week or two of bloom? Will kick down my veg nutes further I think. You seem to have a forumla that really works for clone to bloom.

...just as yourself, I flood 3 x 15 min. throughout the whole bloom. One hour before lights on, one hour before lights out, and one in between.
...when I'm flooding my 4'x8' beds, I do 4 x 6 min....them huge beds take too large of a res for me to flood much longer. Lucas says to keep a fog between the rocks without overdry'n them constantly, so whatever it takes...just keep an eye on things. Keep me posted. :joint:

Right on, atleast I was doing something right =) Forgot to askone last thing. Do you use 100% Bloom nutes week oner of flower or do you use partial veg nutes ? Just trying to nail down the recipe for getting such small plants to get so big after beign thrown into bloom.

Any pics of them right as they go to bloom?

Thanks bro
