Talking co2 amounts?
ok so ive done my first ever grow and it turned out v successful, now my head has swollen up and i feel confident enough to be using co2.
so can any one tell me what sort of amount of co2 im going to need per grow,i will be using it in a 1.2m*1.2m*2m tent with 1200w hps. i want to know what sort of size bottle i will need, ideally smaller the better as im tight for space in the room the tent is in.im going to use the unis co2 controller.
so any pro growers out there or co2 users, am i wasting time and money? or will i benifit from this system?do i need more light? is it worth the effort for such a small space?
any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated
thx guys

Your lighting amount is fine, and you'll definitely benefit from CO2 enrichment if you can keep your temps in check without your exhaust fans running.

A 20lb. bottle should be fine - obviously the smaller it is, the more you'll need to refill it.

With that amount of light, 1500PPM should be fine.

Is the fan cooling the cooltubes also exhausting from the room or is the fan pulling air from outside the tent through the tubes and then exhausting outside the tent?

For my setup, I have a closed system for exhausting my light, which means the fan's (6", 450CFM) pulling from outside the tent, going through the light, and then exhausting outside the tent - the air from the tent is never exhausted through that fan.

I also have a 6" (same specs) hooked up to a carbon filter for exhaust and a 4" (170CFM) for intake.

With just the light being cooled, my tent runs about 12 degrees warmer then ambient temp, which means I can run my CO2 pretty constantly for the twelve hour flowering cycle.

If your temp isn't controllable with just cooling the lights, it will be difficult to run CO2 for any length of time, because the exhaust and intake fans will constantly be coming on.

This is assuming, of course, that you have three fans in your tent as well.

ive never thought of that sort of set up!bloody gd idea m8! i have a ten inch fan outside the tent pulling air through two cool tubes with carbon filter at the end.and i have a 4inch extractor that blows in at the bottom, but its rigged to a temp controller so only blows when its hot otherwise just the draw from the 10inch pulls the air through.

If I was you, I'd hookup the 10" to just cool your lights (closed system), and then buy a 6" to hook up to your filter, and have that on the same temp monitor that your 4" is on.

That way you're only exhausting air when it gets too hot in there, and not constantly.

That'll help you run CO2 much, much more efficiently.

I have everything hooked up to a Sentinel CHHC-1, and the room only gets exhausted when the temp at the sensor level gets to 88 (so when the garage is at 76 degrees, which doesn't really happen in winter around here). Remember, the tent runs 12 degrees higher, so 76+12=88 in tent.

Doesn't really happen at all (the exhaust running), so it's a pretty sealed room for the most part - exhaust and intake fans only run when the light goes off because I have the night temps set lower then the day temps, so when the light goes off, they'll run for about three minutes.

Also have a heater and dehumidifier in there, so I only use the exhaust fans for about three minutes a day - actually going to get a portable AC in a couple of months and get rid of the exhaust fans altogether (pure sealed room environment).

The fan cooling the light is on the same timer as the light, so if the light's on, that fan's on.

Check out my journal for pics of my setup.
