Has anyone tried messing with their pH levels or the amount of phosphorus and potassium that they give their plants to bring out colors? I don't have any experience but I have heard people putting their pH at certain levels to minimize the amount of phosphorus and potassium in later stages in flowering to bring out the colors in the plant?

Ahhh....

I read somewhere that having a more acidic PH (like down to 5.2) will cause color to come through. Don't quote me on this, as I cant remember the source. I am going to go goole it now.
Edit: couldn't find it with a quick search. I am in a pinch for time or else I would look some more. I will check back in this thread later on. good luck

Yeah I'm too affraid to experiment. I'm just trying to see if anyone else has tried it. I have heard that a fellow that goes by bongorilla, messes with some things to really bring out the color in his plants. I know there are some new nutes coming out that claim to do that but I'm not sure if their just marketing junk or not. Thanks for your reply though. It doesn't seem like this thread has sparked much interest.

sparked my intrest, i'm currently expermenting on growing without any nutrients, but liquid minerals is a different story. there are dozens of ways to bring out the funky colors of plants........

I hope that link works for everyone. I think that plants take in more nitrogen toward the lower end of the allowable pH spectrum, and as that graph shows they will take in other nutes at higher pH levels. I would be interested to see how your studies go, thanks for asking and I can't wait to find out!

Be careful with your phosphorous late in flower, i understand that the phosphorous that your plants take in contribute to the harsh smoke, hack hack.... if your going to bump up your phos, make sure you do a very good flush at the end..... you dont want to make your colorful flowers too harsh to take in. just a thought.

I had a soil grow once where my pH was too low, around 5 (amazed they still yielded) and it brought out magenta in the last 3 weeks. Usually she's green with a bluish hue.

Thanks guys for joining in. Thats interesting what happened in your soil grow. What time during flowering did you notice the color change?

One of my plants just started pushing out colors about day 22 of flower. I'm on day 25 of flower right now and I'm starting to get redish purple flowers. They look great! Thats because of genetics though I believe. It's a sandstorm/GDP cross I made.

Ahhh....

You can change colors 2 ways. Plants turn purple when phosphorus is deficient. P starts to get locked out at a ph levels lower than 6.0, lock out P and get purple plants. Also the lower the plants foliage temp the more difficult it is for plants to take in P, so if at all possible lower the temperature in your grow room.
