I've heard in many instances on this forum of various ways to color your plants. I understand this has ZERO effect in boosting potency of the finished product. Everybody on here that says they will update with the results of trying to color their plants but they never did. I want to know has anybody ever tried:
-reducing nighttime temps during flowering to change color? -Adding food coloring or sugar free kool aid to a hydroponic resirvor to color? Any other methods that worked? People always ask why one would want to color their plants with no increase in potency, for me the answer is simple; cultivation has become a passion in itself to me, more so than toking. I want to try something new and exciting. With my existing clones rather than purchase a different strain of seeds. Someone tell me if there is a working method to make your bud turn funky colors without buying some other strain off the net. |

I would imagine the food coloring thing would work. I've seen florists turn white carnations green to an extent by adding green food coloring. They can also do it with blue, pink, red, and sometimes can even mix them where they're do pink and then a kind of orange/peach. If the plants are taking up water they've got to take up the coloring that is mixed in too, right?
Try it with one of your plants and post the results.

![]() Although it prob will have a negative effect on flavor, and if you flush before harvest you might flush out all the pigments.... Good luck! and make sure that stuff is safe for ya! |

Oh and i hear lowering grow room temps works, like 10 deg under ur normal conditions? there was a thread about it on here somwhere, possibly the advanced sect. Dont take my word on it since ive never tried it (i have a hard time keeping temps under 85 let alone changing them on command!)

If I successfully make it purple I will just be basting it in BHO and making purple honey bud. That being said the BHO will help to offset any unpleasant change in taste to the bud itself |

You can buy FDA approved dyes that are concentrated in gourmet food stores and some large craft shops likely on eBay also. They would be the concentrated dyes used by manafactures without any flavorings, sugars etc like used Koolaid.
eBay sell: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Wilton-12-IC...item3353baaf28 The blue coloration that comes natural to some of the mainly indica crosses is typically caused by night time temperature drops of usually 20 degrees or more. Sometimes more drop isuch as if the day time temps are higher than around 80 degrees.

***UPDATE***
Did kool-aid for a week in one reservoir, It yielded no results in color change. In addition the Kool-aid caked to the roots of the plants quadrupling the mass of the root system. I did not take a picture but it was badly messed up and the roots went from white to yellow very quickly. To solve this problem we whipped up a much smaller temporary dwc out of a 2 liter apple juice bottle, and added a second bubble stone. The force and close range of the bubbles to the root system gently bubbled away the unsightly gunk that had overtaken the root system. after a day of this remedy (changed water 3 times) the plant was back to normal and looking great. The root yellow has disappeared along with the residue. To be honest the roots looked better than they did before, but i would not attest this to the addition of kool-aid in our reservoir. |
