when it comes time to harvest i want to take only the good nugs and put the plant back under the lights to let the lower branches rippen up a little bit.

is there any speacial technique to this or do they just immediatly go back under the light

if there were a technique, would we call it the reverse lollipop method of harvesting?

its common to have to harvest the top ripe nugs and leave the lower popcorn buds to grow and ripen a few more weeks

i do that i harvest the tops first then i remove any leavage that block popcorns and let those harden up, if you think about it you have a lot of popcorn so its worth it to let those harden up

if you cut, dont cut through the main stalk, cut the branches off that.

if too many capillaries are exposed water uptake can be halted.

if you leave a few leaves higher up, they will help keep a bit of flow above the ripening buds. and it should make enough shade to cuase any differance

is there any way i can just cut the buds off and leave the plant to produce more?

Definately, I use floros so I always harvest in stages. To just harvest the bud, remove it at the point where it attaches to the stem. It will be a bit tough to get into the small space, just use the tips of the scissors to nip the bud right next to the stem and you should be good to go.

You know thats a hollow stalk right? Thats all KINDS of bad news if you cut it that far along, other than plant damage you have to take into consideration your going to have a hole going from where you cut clear down to the base, thats just asking for insect infestation, and even if you dodge that bullet, your fans could suck the moisture right out of the plant even after it heals cuz you'll still have a hole so at the VERY least you'll be watering twice as often.

If its too tall at its peak and you want to lower your lights(usually the reason for this question) just pinch it a few inches above your last cut branch so it bruises and bend it over. Do it right under the set of nodes near the height you want the plant, you'll actually want to try to 'squeeze' the nodes together, if you squeeze the sides of the stalk with 0 nodes you'll split it. some people bruise(without squeezing nodes together) in these area to get larger resin glands to hold more nutrients.

Eventually the plant will shed it and seal the top itself, but then you run into the problem of it halting bud production and going into repair mode from anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks.


My personal opinion it would be better to just harvest all at once and get your new plants in the room. If there isn't going to be a next batch then it doesn't really matter how you do this. Just keep in mind the more damage you cause the plant the slower it'll produce buds on those 'pop corns'
