how long is pollen viable?

Is there a general time frame before it loses it's potency?

what are the best storage conditions for prolonging the shelf life?

Pollen has a permiable cell mebrane so it can be frozen for indefinate storage.

Doing some further reading on this, and not seeing the word 'indefinite' used anywhere.
I'm seeing anywhere from a month to 5 months (if frozen, refrigerated). Not what I had expected. It appears you can't store pollen like you can store seeds.
