so i got a plant in the ground bout 5 ft tall not bushy but very straight vertically the strain is early girl......anyways my qestiong being i want to bing her inside for 3 days of darkness and shes in the ground so i can gonna dig up the root ball. my question being how much of the root ball do i need to get inorder to be successful and would i just put it in a pot again or would i have to give it a watering or wats the roll call for something like this?

yes im harvesting but i want that dark pariod in there. and another being i dont want to hang my buds for a week cause id have to hang them then go to school for a week them come back so thats another delemma of mine

This is only an assumption but I think you would have to be sure to get most of the rootball and then literally repot it into something and give it a good watering and then let it drain and then bring it inside .. if you want to do the 72-hours of darkness thing.
　
If you do not do a good enough job repotting the plant will more or less die a fast traumatic death by being ripped from the ground and stuck into some environment it could not live in so it dies fast.
　
The whole idea of the 72-hours of darkness and then harvest is so healthy functioning plants can have 72-hours of darkness to produce THC at a rate and level that will be maximized …… but buds will not get that special attention when the rest of the plant is dying because its root system has been destroyed and it cannot begin to survive the new conditions and continue all functions as normal.

But I could be wrong.

id have a friend then come and chop it and hang it to dry for the 4 days and then it would be perfectly dry and could start curing that weekend and be smoking the week after that
