hey fellow horticulturists!

On my last Grow and harvest, my final product was beautiful. The only thing that i would like to improve is the Cola size.

I have seen pictures where colas just get ridiculously big and fat. On my grows, i notice that the buds on top are starting to connect and grow into eachother SOMEWHAT, but some other ones never end up joining with the ones closer to the top. Does anyone have any good tips or methods that could help with this? FYI i am growing with one HPS, and one MH.

The only methods i have tried are topping the plant at a fairly young age, and during flowering, i will Break a stem, (not in half, just enough to where it bends horizontally, and it heals itself with a big knot on the break spot) So that the buds get fatter by growing Upwards. Are these methods helping or hurting in the end?

u can try a SOG style.. were u flower when clones are under 8 inches, then after 2 weeks of flower trim the bottom 1/2 to 3/4 off..this helps the plant focus on just the top budds...

try to concentrate on your node spacing that will for sure help you out ,how far away do you keep your lights ?

How much lighting are you running? I see you said a MH & HPS but I didn't catch a size. Some strains just do not grow the monsters you are referring to, but typically light is the limiting factor.
I run two 600w HPS in a 2.5 x 7' space (dutch masters white widow, mostly organic soil) and have grown some decent colas.

yep...top and lollipop.... and use a pk boost around week 4 and 5.

calcium used correctly will increase yield.

inoculating your garden will help too.

what do u mean ur last grow

I trimmed some light burn off (pruned) a top cola, and it pushed more new bud growth than any of her sisters. I did this towards the end of flowering, and this plant is taking a little longer to finish than the others, but well worth it.

I've never heard of pruning colas, so not sure what to think of the results I'm seeing. You can see the plant here (and on the precious page):

thats nuts GREEN CROSS, what strain is that?? also just how much longer is it takeing to finish?(weeks)
