So a plant has seeds and about to be harvested. How long until the seeds can be used for planting? No plans to take seeds off the plant unharvested but should they be dried for a couple weeks and then germed?

Hang plant and dry as normal, take seeds out of buds and lay on large plate and sit out in a warm dry place and out in the sunshine is all fine.
After a few days like this they are ready to package up.
Packaging must be light,air tight. U could throw in some Basmati (uncooked) rice to suck up moisture. Keep in fridge good for 5-10 years at close to 100%.

super, thanks....this place is great! What about planting them=jerm starting. I guess wait a couple weeks to dry and then throw a few in a paper towl to start the germ?

After they are dry you can just treat them like any other seed you would have. Also all of this info is in the seed production thread that is stickied.

I've taken seeds right off the plant and germinated them. With no dry time. Just pulled them and stuck them into a wet paper towel. You can use them right away. It's probably best to let them dry out, but they can be used right away.
