Red face know of this pest?
maybe advanced growers know of this pest, no one else seems to. i just noticed hundreds of these little guys...they seem to be staying off the plant, but are crawling everywhere else...cords, soil, around pots. does anyone have any idea what this may be, i have done a little research and havent seen a picture of it yet. a couple things: light colored and semi transparent, 6 legged, and a small number of hair growing evenly around its body...all seem to share the same characteristics..(size, color, shape). large oval shaped bodies with small heads (which are a little darker)

I just repotted a whole pot outside because of the same thing. My motto was too many busy bugs aint never good for the house. They stayed off the plant but were busy as hell. Let the out side predetors deal with them and repot a clone ar something to have inside, we still got 2 months in most parts of the world.

they look like a type of mite. are they visible to the naked eye? have you observed them hunting other microscopic insects?

to get rid of them, run neem oil through your soil/medium, or layer the top of your medium with diatomacious earth.

they are visible to the naked eye. havent seen em hunting any other insects.

im thinking they are aphids being that mites have 8 legs, and aphids have 6. everything fits the characteristics of aphids except for the hair they have growing. i also dont think mites would choose to live around the rim of the pot...they feed and breed on leaves, well aphids do too but i think counting the legs is the most accurate fact for this call. thanks for your help.

have you seen any fat ones on the undersides of leaves? that's where the adult aphids would feed. they look LIKE aphids, but not like the one's i've had here in the SE. the ones i've dealt with are much larger than that (perhaps you photo'd young?).

i'll be looking though charts tomorrow, this has got me stumped. what general area do you live in? (quadrants are fine)
