Question A possibly new idea for cloning your babies

So people its like this,

Ive been looking through cloning methods on RIU.org for a fair while now and have come up with an idea i need feedback on.

Its a possible way to clone without cutting the clone from the plant until rooted.
Would it be possible to cake soil round a branch and wrap it in black plastic with small holes in for watering and air?
That way the plant could support the clone until roots are formed.Then all you would need to do is cut the branch, unwrap it and plant the rooted clone.

To my mind it would save space, maybe time and extra lights for the clone box!

So what do the experienced growers on RIU think could be done to refine the method and do you think, more importantly, that it would work?

any advice appreciated 000

That is called air layering and is not at all a new idea.
