has anyone ever tried this? still give a plant there full time of light for a day but put them at like interval hours at a time..

ex. veg cycle:
12am-1am off
1am-4am on
4am-5am off
5am-8am on
8am-9am off
9am-12pm on
12pm-1pm off
1pm-4pm on
4pm-5pm off
5pm-8pm on
8pm-9pm off
9pm-12am on

No and I wouldn't.
It will probably double your electric bill. It takes way more power to turn on lights than to leave them on.

i dont know about the power consumption personaly i dont think it would change shit. but at the core of this thread... what the is the fucking point of 3 hours on 1 hour off? i mean you cant expect the plant to consider 4 hour light cycles a full day cycle. i would expect some hermies to come out of this. but i have no idea. just my two cents. tell us how it goes.

I got another idea, what about a strobe light.. Why use 4 hr cycles when you can use 1/4 second cycles..

"Day 1 - Sunday, 6:00am til Monday, 3:36am
Day 2 - Monday, 3:36pm til Tuesday, 1:12pm
Day 3 - Wednesday, 1:12am til Wednesday, 10:48pm
Day 4 - Thursday, 10:48am til Friday 8:24am

I was hoping someone had tried this (from the FAQ). It seems technical enough...... but does it work?

Spazmoog, that one has proven to be fine, but there was a giant debate over benefit.. Also its a nuissance if you only own basic 24hr timers.. The reason its divided like that is because it does work with a 7 day timer to yield 5 effective days..

Thanks born2killspam..... I don't want the extra effort if the return isn't reflected.

On a one-time crop you'd see a small gain, but given the extra time needed, it isn't the best idea in a perpetual space..
