Question How much light is needed to flower males for pollen?

I am starting to grow a few males to start crossing some strains and I want to know what type of light setup I would need for flowering males. I would like to paint brush the pollen on certain females. This is why I want to construct a small new grow room for them. Could compact fluorescent work or do I need HID?
