Thumbs up The Fox tests mycorrhizae with pics
I have decided to test some mycorrhazae fungi in a head to head. I didnt go with anything special just a cheap bag around 8oz for 6 bucks. I think it had 11 total species (types?? sub-calasification of???) fungi.

I pulled 6 seeds from the same bud out of some bag seed and germmed in paper towel. So the mother is known to be the same. Its just brick weed so from a genetic standpoint its a melting pot of F-whatever. Wasn't going to use good beans for the test.

I took the best 4 looking ones and planted them. The best looking two were placed in soil without fungi. I fuguired this would give it a little head start to better prove the test results.

Soil was FF potting mix with perlite 50/50. As seen in the picture the ones with fungi appear to have more perilite, that is not the case. I just positioned the best looking side of the roots for the photo op.

2 pots got nothing; the other 2 were given well over the recomended dosage of the fungi. I used a 1/2 Tbs for both of them. Package recommended 1Tbs per gal to give you guys an idea, so I overshot it by plenty to see some results.

Plants were given the same amount of water and ferts. I used a syringe for refrence. If one plant got 40ml they all got 40 ml. if one got 10 ml they all got 10. You get the point. I personally tried to over water them as much as I could without damage. I guess you could say overzelous and trying to push them as hard and fast as I could.

Plants pictured are about 2 weeks. Enjoy.

I did not transplant them. I just put them back in the same pots, and will continue to grow them in those pots for the rest of the plants life to see how big they can get and if the fungi has any effect on rootbound plants. I will probobly pull them out to take some pics in another 2 weeks.

Ok now for the meat and potatos. My finding are still inconclusive, cuz of such a small control group and still only 2 weeks old, but overall I like what I see with the fungi.

-plant size did not vary much.

-stem growth is still the same at this time.

-roots did vary considerably. Myco wins I didnt want to disturb them too much, but the myco roots just branched off more and had thicker tap roots overall.

-overall health of the plant, myco wins....one main thing I noticed is that with myco the leafs feel thicker and more robust. My main crop with some good gentetics , I used the recomended amount of mycro. No variation can be noted between overdosing and recomended dosing. The two without the mycro are the only ones that have a paper thin leaf appearance or feel? if that make any sense.

Oh and Podunk, Your sister wants those fat girl panties back!!!!

oh one more thing. The one that looks a little slim on soil is not. I just compressed it before removing from the pot. It was the first one removed and I didn't want to destroy it if it didn't have enough integrity and structure to hold it together.
